San Jose Mayor proposes requiring insurance for guns

    “As of tonight I can confirm the City of Modesto will be denying the permit,” said Reeves.

    The straight pride event was planned in Modesto’s Graceada Park for Aug. 24. Reeves says the event organizers were faced with a problem.

    “We were informed today by the insurance carrier that they are denying insurance. If you don’t have insurance, you can’t reserve one of our parks,” Reeves said. “The second thing is our concern for safety. We have a big concern for the residents around Graceada Park where the event was planned to be held.”

    Ah yes. The first step in reducing access to firearms to the financially challenged. Next up- expensive/mandatory training classes.

    We'll get the hole nation like CA -where only people with lotsa money can show cause to conceal carry- in no time!

    More freedom (for the wealthy)!

    I can just see all of the crooks rushing to buy gun insurance so that they will be covered when they shoot someone. The mayor is down to one brain cell and it is very sick.

    So you would approve of additional insurance for drivers who use drugs then? Drivers with drugs in their systems were involved in 5,400 traffic fatalities in 2016.

    No, insurance is called insurance for the simple basic point it's not for something that's intentional. THerefore it's meaningless in terms of murder. No policy will cover an intentional act, and common sense sort of says why....

    The left must know, they absolutely must know that they are fighting for the wrong side. They are fighting for what people are fleeing from. I implore the left to take a look around at the world outside of the United States. You only lose your freedom once..... just once.

    The abuser of firearms has to pay a price....Since the GOP is in the back pocket of the NRA....and their inane beliefs.....something needs to be done. Law suits and insurance are a few options...

    The belief that one has the right to defend themselves is an inane belief? Why are dems so upset at the idea that people can defend themselves? It sort of begs the question what you all plan on doing once you strip people or that right
