There is something about "concerns about the environment" being used as cudgel to support a multi trillion dollar take over of the economy that is absolutely a leftist thing. I don't think we would ever allow it but if it does happen it will effectively hand China the keys to the global economy. No country is kinder to the environment than China as we all know...

Its almost like some people don't understand that there is a whole world outside of the United States.

So assume for the sake of argument that AGW is real and the dire projections are real. Meaning cutting back our carbon emissions is imperative. How would you go about that? Or would you still oppose any sort of collective action because of ideology?

Apparently that's exactly how schools work now. Sanctioned ditching to attend liberal events

Let's assume for the sake of argument it's not real and efforts to fix a non existent problem do nothing but destroy the environment and degrade our economy.

And this, folks, is how a troll responds to an attempt to get them to commit substance.

Yes. Schools are not prisons. As long as the parents and the school are made aware, the school has no authority to stop them.

Well things must have changed since I was a kid. Our schools had fences and gates and you couldn't leave campus without a pass and a parent or guardian there to pick you up. Not to mention just getting up and walking out of class in the first place which would get you an appointment in the principals office and a note home to your parents. Are you saying schools now have no attendance requirements and students casually come and go from class and schools as they please? Really? Somehow I doubt it.

Ha! Did you go to a reform school? :)
I am not saying the students can come and go as they please. I'm saying that as long as the school and parents are made aware in advance, they can leave.

I posted the policy above, but here's the link. Pages 11 and 12.

Takes a parent excuse. Did all these kids that left school to protest have written parent permission?

With parental consent for things like field trips. Was this protest a field trip for liberal schools? Could be I guess.

School rules say no political advertising

    From either party. Pretty simplr

But much more fun for the pc snowflakes on the right to be offended yet again and start whining about religious persecution

At my kids' schools, all the school can do is warn you that if you skip school for any reason, it's an unexcused absence unless you have a parental excuse -- and even then, there's a short list of acceptable excuses, and going to an outside event isn't one of them.

But that's it. School isn't jail. My kids have skipped schools to attend protests and the like. I don't lie for them to make it an excused absence. They take the unexcused absence, recognizing it as the price they're paying for having a voice outside of school.

BTW, my kids are not whiny entitled brats who expect everything to be handed to them. My youngest is a junior who is fluent in Chinese thanks to immersion schooling, with a 4.0 despite a heavy load of AP classes. She's going to have enough credits to graduate at the end of this year, and is considering spending all of next year taking college classes for free through PSEO (Post Secondary Education Options), a program run by the state of Minnesota that lets high-performing high-school students enroll in Minnesota state colleges and universities, earning both high school and college credit.

    She frankly terrifies me.
