The green card gives them an option to earn citizenship along with the jeopardy associated with misbehaving while not having citizenship.

Employers have to be held to account while at the same time having a clear process for establishing the right of their employees to work here.

Half of illegals here came through the front door with a visa they overstayed. We won't solve the illegals problem if employers can hire them with impunity.

The situation doesn't warrant measures that would undoubtedly bring us into international disrepute, not to mention further divide us. We could use drones to identify persons we should intercept.

What makes you think that canceling DACA, cutting short the registration period, going to the SC to protect his decision, and his blatantly racist comments combine to form SUPPORT for DACA???

I do agree that Trump could be treating DACA children as no more than a political football.

I think Trump feels he has to let the DACA kids stay because poll after poll shows 80+% of Anericans want them to have a path to citizenship. Trump could care less about anyone other than Trump.

 

Looks like our only point of disagreement is on the use of drones, instead of building a "wall", that is thirty feet high, and 1,550 miles long. Drones would cost a microscopic fraction of what it would cost to build, maintain, and staff a "wall" like that -- and probably be much more effective at interdiction, too.

Nevertheless, as far as the use of 'deadly force' is concerned, when it comes to protecting our borders from illegal alien invaders, I truly do not care in the least what some bunch of socialistic bleeding-hearts in Europe, or New Zealand, or whatever, think about how we defend our country.... Cheers!

Instead of shooting at people, we can send someone to intercept them.

You should care because we only have 200,000 troops overseas. We rely upon other countries to put their people in harm's way under the circumstances, not to mention allow us to base our forces in their country.

When something is critical, we have to do what we have to do. But we have options in this case.

My concern is that I've seen no justification for the wall. What are we getting in terms of actual affect for the tens of billions involved?

Since the number of undocumented aliens isn't rising and hasn't risen for about a decade now, it seems to me that justification for a wall has very little to do with immigration.

When it comes down to it, my bet is that the real issue is trafficking in drugs and perhaps some guns, one way or the other.

I'd like to see a serious analysis of what this wall is supposed to get us.

And, stated in terms of dollars, NOT in some abstract and hate filled messages about the genetics of people from Mexico.

 

Abject narcissism along with living in a fabricated world of positives and support seems unlikely to lead to suicide.

Maybe he'll just go to his golf course and pretend to govern from there for a few years.

 

I think I can imagine a synthesis of your idea, and mine. We could use drones, but the primary mission would be to seek -- not destroy. Then, the drone 'pilots' could coordinate with the ICE Border Patrol people and the 'boots on the ground' would interdict the invaders. Yeah, that could work, if we have enough 'boots'.

It would be hard to cover all 1,550 miles of the border that way, but it would be worth a try. Many parts of that border country are so hostile that not even a really desperate alien would try to cross through it. I know that country. I've jeeped in it often. You don't go anywhere without plenty of water, at least two weapons, and enough ammo to save yourself if you have to....
