An Egyptian court convicted in absentia yesterday seven Egyptian Coptic Christians and a Florida-based American pastor, sentencing them to death on charges linked to an anti-Islam film that had sparked riots in parts of the Muslim world. The case was seen as largely symbolic because the defendants, most of whom live in the United States, are all outside Egypt and are thus unlikely to ever face the verdict. http://www.thenational.ae/news/world/middle-east/seven-linked-to-anti-islam-film-sentenced-to-death I share this opinion. It's unlikely that the defendants will ever attend.
Islam is the religion of peace, don't you know. Those who criticize Islam (even peacefully) are its enemies, are therefore the enemies of peace and should be murdered in cold blood in the name of Islam and for the sake of peace Islam so perfectly personifies.
I saw this in the Egyptian press yesterday. I am curious- and am unable to find that information- as to what court gave out this sentence.
Btw the court said the sentence would be sent to the Grand Mufti for confirmation. The Grand Mufti is Egypts top religious authority and according to law is called on to confirm death sentences. The final proclamation is scheduled for January 29, 2013. It is ironic that Egyptian revolution made well-educated pro-western ppl but in the end the radical Islamists took the lead. It seems US and entourage f ed up again they supported really bad guys >
