In fact, when you take your child into a desert it is very relevant after she dies as a consequence. It was the father's decision to take her there, and others on the caravan should have stopped it. But they likely felt that a child, specially a sick one, would get them more sympathy. And that, in some circles, seems to be the case.

The racism card? That's a sign of desperation and that you've clearly lost the argument.

Well. You're refusing to acknowledge the fact that she was in US custody for 8 hours before getting medical attention. How about you get a car accident, and I as a paramedic will look at you dying for 8 hours straight, to than do something too late while I get to blame it on you drinking and driving while it can't be me eyeballing you for all that time.

Was she at a facility.
Was she in the desert.
Was the patrol on another case, or several.
Did she, or her parents bring water. food.

 

If somebody rants that it's 3 am when everything is closed, while it was 9 pm when they were apprehended...

They became responsible the moment they took her into custody.
And they did not do anything for her, for 8 hours.

They were all in custody and no one knew that the girl needed medical attention. You clearly want to blame the Americans for this tragedy but it doesn't wash.

The Guatemalan girl, who had celebrated her birthday just days earlier, began vomiting and later stopped breathing while being transported to a Border Patrol station. She died at a hospital in El Paso.

Customs and Border Protection said Friday that Jakelin initially appeared healthy and that an interview raised no signs of trouble. Authorities said her father spoke in Spanish to border agents and signed a form indicating she was in good health, though a Guatemalan official said late Friday that the family's native language was a Mayan dialect.

Lawyers who have agreed to represent the family also said the father does not speak Spanish.

"Our agents are almost always outnumbered in the middle of the night," a CBP official told reporters on a conference call Friday. "There is no indication that it was a lack of attention that resulted in this. The questions were asked. The observations were made and there was no indication that she had any health conditions."

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen called Jakelin’s death “a very sad example of the dangers” migrants face.

Nielsen, during a Friday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” said Border agents offered “immediate care,” but said ultimately the girl’s fate rests father’s decision to seek entry into the U.S.

“This is just a very sad example of the dangers of this journey,” she said. “This family chose to cross illegally.”

 

It's a tragedy. The father was likely uneducated and had no idea what he was getting into or the dangers he and his daughter faced. These people are being used by their own governments, false rumors, and the 'coyotes' who use them for financial or sexual reasons.

I'm sure that there will be an investigation, but I don't really care which of those two possibilities caused her death.

Socialized medicine works everywhere throughout the world - it can work here just as easily. Besides, it is YOUR tax dollars that paid for Europe's health care via the Marshall Plan and continues to pay for Israel's health care.

 

The Marshall Plan had nothing to do with universal health care. Israel gets aid and US tax dollars are not connected directly to health care.
