I didn't say "damn reasonable additional gun control".

I said I knew some Democrats who were damn reasonable when it came to gun control.

I know Democrats who understand that additional laws won't keep guns out of the hands of criminals. They understand that banning a gun like the AR-15 is stupid, especially when you consider that no one is going after the Mini 14 which is, operationally, the same exact weapon. They understand that gun laws affect only the law-abiding of our society.

I'd appreciate you not misquoting me...

    Oops.

None the less do you have a helper to carry that L glass around with you? ;-)

I covered the Gatornationals a number of years back and rented a 600 and found that lens to be seriously heavy, but one could literally count the hairs on Ashley's Force's arms at a quarter mile out, it's an amazing lens, but a serious wallet flattener.

Firstly, I did not misquote you as I only put quotes around what you said which was: "damn reasonable".
I did not write: "damn reasonable additional gun control". (Please note quote mark location)

Secondly, thanks for clarifying some of the specifics of what some Democrats believe in regards to gun control.

Yes. He goes by the name "Manfrotto"...

Well, it's probably not the best choice for a hobbyist. I make my living with my cameras, so the investment was both worth it as well as a business expense.

I bought this one several years ago; I'm the second owner. The seller was asking $5,500, but was quick to accept my offer of $4,900...

Three legs and a hard worker.

I agree, but as a stringer the better the shots I can capture, the more I get paid, hence the reason for renting the lens.

I as a stringer cannot justify buying one, but can justify renting what I need to complete the assignment.

Actually, I use his one-legged brother...

    Oh, Absolutely...

Yeah, if I wasn't earning money with it, I don't know that I'd have pulled the trigger on it. But, aside from the money aspect, it's nice to take to a surfing competition or on a safari when the other guys are pulling out their 400mm f/2.8's!!

For the record, if there is a record, a typical AR-15 is about 6.5 pounds with basic sights, unloaded. Add about a pound for a full standard capacity 30 round magazine. Put more gadgets on the thing, it will gain weight.

One of my AR-15's is a very lightweight version. The Bushmaster Carbon 15 comes in at 5.5 pounds. This is achieved with fiber-glass filled polymers molded over a very minimal metal support structure. Like all AR-15's in the standard loading of .223 Remington or 5.56mm NATO, it is a low powered weapon, not "high powered" by any stretch of any knowledgeable person's imagination.

The typical bullet is less than a 1/4" in diameter, or 0.224" to be exact and weighs just one eighth of an ounce. It is so small that in many states it is not permitted to be used for deer hunting.
