Why should that trip anyone and I remember when the GOP was questioning Kennedy fitness for office due to him being Catholic and therefore a puppet of the Pope. Since the GOP took in the southern racists nothing had change from Obama not being born here to Kennedy being the wrong type of Christian. Oh then we have the attacks on FDR for his wife fighting for blacks civil rights.
How about this one. In the history of Civil Rights legislation it has almost always been the republicans being the most supportive of it. In fact, the last piece of civil rights legislation passed was by Bush. In "64 you had a higher percentage of republicans than democrats voting for it. In "57 you had the republicans pushing it while the democrats filibustered it. It goes on and on, so when was this magical switch of the parties you are referring to? You, as most people do, are confusing the southern strategy with a switch in party values which never occurred. In fact, both the democrats and republicans were going after that southern vote, there are published strategy papers from both sides on how to do it, but Nixon won. What actually happened was that the democrats turned that defeat into a win by developing their race card strategy where they used that event to hammer home the lie that republicans now hated blacks. And they've been doing it since and it worked in switching blacks over to the democratic party in force. The republicans never flipped to anything else, they were just going after an open voting block the same as democrats were. Actually, the reparations should be paid by West African nations. The Africans sold their captives to the slave traders that they defeated in battle. If the slave traders had not taken the prisoners, they would have genocided the captives and there would be few blacks in America today. The blacks owe the slave traders money for their very existence.
Can we just get them to stop supporting the KKK and the facist groups they have started to tear down the United States? I would be happy with that. Later we can discuss the amount of money they owe. AOC has already cost Americans in NY billions and 25K jobs. At least she wasn't caught (yet) wearing KKK robes or doing blackface like a certain Democrat recently in the news.
