People knew who he was but nothing about him.
Just what the various groups made up.
Very similar to what is happening today.
Muslims are discouraged from reading his biography..
If they do, they will find out he was no holy man, he was a murderous warlord.

Now in the 21st century Islam has to hide him, or lie about him, as much as possible

My suggestion is to forget about the bell and to melt down the tons of copper in the statue of Liberty if Trump is reelected an turn them into pennies with Trump face on one side and with a wall on the other side with We are now all full up lettering.

By that same logic, maybe those Confederate monuments should also be moved out of those cities to safety.

A great monument to Robert E. Lee is in Gettysburg.

I feel no pride nor shame in admiring the man. Do you realize that at Westpoint military academy and the war college he still is admired?

I know due to posting with some of those who graduated from those places. They are not bigoted at him merely due to Abe the outlaw invading a peaceful loving people.

Suppose Abe simply never formed his army? Wild horses never would get Lee to attack.

I have been to both. The Statue is clad with copper. This actually is about Philadelphia slapping liberty in the face.

Glad you got to see it. No, I don't think it should be moved because that is where they put it. The inscriptions on the bell are cool:
"Leviticus 25:10 "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all inhabitants thereof."
