In any really big tourney like the Vegas WSOP you are rarely going to know much about the other players at your table.

You can bet your bippy though that they are all skilled and knowledgeable however -- just like you.

Spotting whether they are overly loose or overly tight takes time.

That's why every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser and you need to know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em.

What I normally do my first several hands at a new table is not even look at my hand until it is time to call or fold, and then quickly decide based on the hand technically and the bet made. The goal early on is simply to get in the hand as cheaply as possible while watching the others' faces.

So I concentrate on watching everybody looking at and playing their hand. Most people make the mistake of looking at their own cards too much.

It is a people skill related to poker.

The longer someone looks at their hand, the better it is. Because good cards look beautiful.

Stomach illness is cause by either a virus, a bacterium, or an amoeba.

Nothing you can go about a virus except quarantine it, stay in bed, rest, drink liquids and soup, and wait for your body to beat it with its own immune response. Anyone really old or with AIDS is in deep sh!t.

There are antibiotics for bacteria and amoebas.

good tips, in person is a different beast. online no one knows if you're nervous, i wouldn't survive at a table tournament. i have no poker face.

online tournaments are easier to spot overly tight, and overly loose. i can make absurd bluffs without fear, great place to practice that art.

    .
Good you heard from him but that's a shame he is ill enough to be in the hospital.
At least he can be monitored for fluids and medicated properly.
Ill bet you both were glad to hear from each other.
    Cool.

How do you know they aren't looking a long time at their hands to put people off?

Pardon Me Moi but would this make the 68th time you have basically
said the same thing about a new Thread.
I could make the case what we have here is a " Failure ta Communicate ".
I mean,I don't cotton being treated as if sloppin' the hogs time at the
Dude Ranch.Where the Gals are the Dudes.
But at least this hears a nice pop stand to waste a little time.

I hear ya, darlin. We're going thru a bar a month, but I finally got smart and cut & paste the old bar to the new digs. When I had more time and energy, enjoyed coming up with new themes. Especially liked the cruises we took. Who can forget watching the battle of ship horns from the Promenade Deck?

He is home now but was down hard since we last talked three weeks ago. Apparently it created a lot of inflammation internally which caused a lot of pain. He said you know he was feeling reeeeeeeeeally bad because even his wife was being nice to him. :)

In poker you don't "know" anything. It is a game of chance like dice.

People generally look at their hand, and if it is beautiful, they stare at it like a lover.

If they look for a really long time it is intermediate and they are trying to figure out what they can make with it.

If they glance quickly and put it back down then it is crappy.

You have to watch for all that.

I listened to this song many times, sang along without thinking. Then I actually listened to the lyrics.

How sad and desperate is that?

I like Pai Gow Poker. Nothing like getting beat by a cute lil Asian girl. Grew up waiting on my mothers poker table players, mostly aunts & uncles. Nickle, dime, quarter and they'd play all night. Mom always cooked a big ham or pot of chicken & dumplins and peach cobbler or coconut cake and theyd cut the pot to pay for food.... and tipped me for fetching food. Good times. :)
