I was a bit disappointed with my garden at first it seemed everyone was harvesting and my garden was doing nothing. Then the bees started coming and even the carpenter bees, within a few weeks I am overwhelmed. People who think bees don't matter should rethink that thought. I am thinking of investing in some carpenter bee houses next year to give them a break from drilling holes in the old barn.
We have had about 6 or seven inches of rain this month and that is a plus. The watering has slowed down except I do have the sprinkler on today. We live on a hill and it seems to dry out rather fast, water takes the path of least resistance which is downhill.
I have several different kinds of pepper, bell, jalapeno, cubanelle, tabasco, and cayenne, crookneck squash, zucchini, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes.

I had a friend that would make his children drink lemon water if they got mouthy or rude. He had the nicest children.
Nothing like a glass of lemon water on a hot day although you can't beat old-fashioned lemonade.

He didn't just open the door he broke the door down. There will never be another singer like Elvis. I am not an avid Elvis fan but his greatness in rock and roll will be hard to match. He was great.

Yeah but, there was only one Elvis, those were groups and they still couldn't outdo one little old country boy. They got their fame because of Elvis.

He single-handedly changed the course of popular music. Thats more important than record sales.

Even at his physical worst, he was still magnificant.

My garden is not doing well this year. It is from lackof water. But I do have some strawberries coming on. Strawberry plants are getting some water because in the last drought I lost them all. I am also starting some clones to put in another place. I am also getting a few green beans. The drought resistant peas are just now blooming.

The Rolling Stones have amased a Rock Star Legend that will
never be duplicated. Not even close.I was thinking about buying an Elvis
new release LP from his best recordings. But have no interest.
Elvis is more than Dead. His songs are relics. He had a great run in
the 50's and then his Popular Movies.
I don't cotton worship of anyone.Save maybe a Pope John Paul.
The South has this worship agenda.
However Elvis should be remembered as one of the Greatest Americans.
Like Bob Hope.Or indisputably The Magnificent Ronald Reagan.

Kinda like Reno as The Biggest little City in the World.
The Biggest little closet in the World used to be
The Confessional { where a Priest hears a Confession }.
But since that went by way of a crazed culture ... what's left.
Bragging is not necessarily a sin.But faux braggadocio at the
expense of those less fortunate can amount to a mortal sin.
Like someone lucking on to a huge Powerball win.
Then deciding their wealth is more important than their fellow man.
    Same thing.Same doggone thingy.

You are confusing and conflating the Big Band Era with those like
early blues and rock. There was also early jazz like Swing with
    Duke Ellington { I have about 4 of his LP's and 3 CD's }
with others like Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie.
lGlenn Miller was as significant as Benny Goodman.
Then those like Harry James, more a Hollywood or entertainment
venue.Plus stoic bands like Guy Lombardo.
    I also have 3 Woody Herman LP's { I bought at thrift stores }
an early pioneer. But Gene Krupa really stood out.
I read where Elvis who visited Richard Nixon Unannounced at the
White House { snuck it at the West gate } with a letter he just wrote
on his trip over.He mentioned the Beatles. And the probably harm they
could cause Americans to start thinking Unamerican.More like a Brit.
Maybe even start experimenting with drugs like their hair and clothes.
Which is precisely what happened. The 60's ushered-in The Greatest
change in culture { Music,Dress,Hair and politics } in our history.

Benny Goodman - performs at Carnegie Hall January, 1938.

Duke Ellington - performs at Carnegie Hall January, 1943.

Tommy Dorsey - performs at Carnegie Hall April, 1944.

Count Basie - performs at Carnegie Hall January, 1938 (as a member of Benny Goodman's ensemble).

Glenn Miller - performs at Carnegie Hall October, 1939.

Woody Herman - performs at Carnegie Hall March 1946.

Gene Krupa - performs at Carnegie Hall January 1938 (as part of Benny Goodmans ensemble).

    No.

    I am not confused.

Everyone who followed, owes it all to Benny Goodman; for his legitimizing of popular music, through gaining the acceptance of the genre, by virtue of the January, 1938 performance at Carnegie Hall.

Everything that became popular music afterward, followed Benny.

Timothy Leary - a Harvard Professor - made LSD popular. He would go to concerts with a grocery bag of the stuff and hand it out for free - before it was illegal.

    https://www.narconon.org/drug-information/heroin-history-1900s.html

But what really drove the heroin addiction problem in the 60s was the Vietnam war. Soldiers got addicted over there and brought that addiction back here.

I don't see the Beatles mentioned at all. ;)

So what drugs did the Beatles bring to this country?

I cannot dispute facts.I noticed how 1938 was a banner
year for the introduction of The Big Band Era.
Kinda like the Big Broadcast of 1938 highlighting radio-style
    musical acts.
Elvis Presley relied on his fast tempo belting style and hips swinging to
razzle dazzle.Whereas Ozzie Osbourne and Alice Cooper
    relied on creepiness.
