I’ve hiked Mt San Jacinto where the peak is 10,834. No altitude sickness but the air is pretty thin. Crossing 9000’ was like hitting a wall.

Still no power. Some of the damage a few miles to the east of where we live is just horrific. I counted about 14 trees down on our property but to the east of us, it is like a war zone. Trees are snapped half into and others are completely uprooted. Houses with trees across their roofs are common.

How do you like retirement? (Asking folks that question usually gets a wide range of responses.)

I'm considering it, but afraid I might get bored.

Avoid it if you have the smallest doubt. It sucks. I grow bonsai trees (a hobby I have been playing with for more than 25 years) and I have an 11-year-old son (my wife is a lot younger than I) so between the two some of my time is useful. But I wouldn't call myself "lucky" because it's not the same as getting up and preparing to do something important every day. And one more thing ..... Netflix ain't what it's cracked to be!

Yeah, I tend to get lazy on the weekends and as bad as I hate Mondays, always feel better once Im dressed and out the door. I like watching judge shows, but Id hate to waste my time watching other peoples dramas. Probably need a hobby... besides political forums. ;)

My days are mostly round to it when I get time. Seems I don't have enough hours in the day.

There's no problem if you are a working man. Weekend is your leisure time. So use it to get your battery loaded. If hanging around does that job, just do it. :)

I understand that. Even things that I enjoy doing I have difficulties "getting started" but once I get moving I am so happy that I did. But those judge shows aren't real .... are they? Here, in Sweden, a judge can never express his/her personal opinion on anything or give advice or badger the defendant/plaintiff. It's good to have two hobbies. When everything goes wrong and you are in danger of giving up it's good to have some other distraction.

It is true, since my husband retired it seems like I never have enough time. I am taking today off for a while after I finish the laundry and lunch.

Im sure judge shows are loosely scripted, but I still prefer real people to actors. Just dont get into watching grown people pretend to be somebody else... which is what actors do.

Interesting you live in Sweden... is that your home or are you a transplant?

Do working women get the same deal? LOL. I think not. We get to work and cook and clean and do laundry... after working all week!

    Oh woe is us. ;)

Let your husband work for money and do you work at home for your family.
So is the traditional division of labor, if you wanna be a good conservative.

Something I remember Fire Sign Theatre saying, "Hard-working common folks like you and me played by rich Hollywood stars".
    EDIT: Found it.
"Presenting honest stories of working people as told by rich Hollywood stars”

    I'm a Swede.

I'll count myself lucky... the spouse is the primary cook. I bake and make all the specialty dishes, when needs arise.

I emptied the cup on the robot vacuum Saturday. Not all men are bums.

If you hike up to 10,000 and camp for the night you would likely wake in the night short of breath and with a racing heartbeat.

Best way is camp at 4000 on the first day, then 8000 the next day, then you can go to about 12000 on the third night. That's how they do it at Mt. Whitney.

I want to get caught up on the food.

Last evening before work I diced and stir fried some roast beef with bbq sauce in it.

Half of it I ate before going to work and the rest I saved and took with me for my midnight rations (mid-rats) at work.

I spooned this onto pan seared flour tortillas to make several bbq beef tortillas.

It was quite good for a change.

This morning when I got home I simmered together some frozen seafood, frozen vegies, ramen noodles, and vegie broth for a dee-licious supper before bed.

Just woke up after sleeping deep for 8 hours straight.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I lived at 6100’. I guess I was partially acclimated.
