    It was hard to look at the open casket at the wake.She looked
    like a Grandma.She deteriorated rather quick in less than a year and a
    half.Had no will to take anything seriously.It was mostly her attitude
    that did her in.That and being very irresponsible.She had a small trust
    set up for her and her Dad got her a nice small house.Which she basically
    trashed.Needed to be institutionalized { Committed } but she was right on
    the edge of being sane enough to act half normal when she felt like it.
    She lost her brother { My nephew } back in 2011.He was around 30 yrs.old.
    Just up and died one night.Some kind of Party drug.

    Isn't it odd how we never notice how some people look like others in the family till they die? Death is strange.

    You know, the part where they say you never know, no truer words were ever spoken. You just never know what tomorrow brings.
    I hope your niece improves from pneumonia soon. Her boss also. Now that she knows she has heart problems maybe she will be properly treated and feel better than she has in a while. You never know.
    We need some happy. This could be one of those happy things in the end. For her and her families sake I hope so.

    I never understood the principle of viewing someone who passed away. I know its the respectful thing to do and Ive done it many times but every time Ive walked up to those caskets and knelt down to pray, my first thought is kneeling in front of a dead body is surreal.

    Coming up on the 1st anniversary (July 5) of my descent into health hell last year. Ruptured appendix and 2 bouts of sepsis (blood infection). Any one of the 3 could have taken my life, like they have lots of folks. Came thru it not fearing death as much as I used to. For one thing, when you're THAT sick, you feel so lousy you really don't care. For another thing, they have access to whatever drug it takes to relieve your suffering. That's comforting to know.

    Of course, the main thing I came thru it with is a renewed appreciation for feeling good. And a deeper empathy for people in the end times of their life who will never get better.

    How's that for morbid conversation?

    Better...

    You know what comes after Spring Chicken? Tough Old Bird. You/we are Tough Old Birds. Let the Spring Chickens flutter about. We been there. Done that and they could use a few pointers from us but we aint willin' to disclose. Now we peck our way though diseases, sudden illnesses and losses and still know how to smile and have fun. We aint ready for the soup pot yet. You proved that.
    Now...give me your red cup. It needs fillin' and I got an extra coupon for Metamucil if you want it.

    #metoo ran across an unopened bottle of Black Jack in the cabinet. Christmas present. Happen to have a couple of Cokes and cloudy ice cubes... might have to have a Jack & Coke when I get off work. :alcoholic:

    It used to be common in Appalachia for families to take pictures of dead relatives. It’s not done as much nowadays, although a friend of mine from the hills posted a picture of her dead mom (in the casket) on FaceBook. It got a few “likes” if memory serves.

    I have told everyone I don't want a funeral. I don't like to go to them and certainly don't want to go to mine. ;)

    Tractor is in the shop with gas leaking from the high speed screw on the carburetor. I hope I get it back soon because I want to use the plow to help me level the floor in my barn.

    For those of you into old tractors, mine is a 1968 Sears 8XL.

    I don't know why but I kept thinking of Cary Grant the last week.
    So I bought a nice movie at Barnes & Noble { they are now open }
    - To Catch a Thief - { 1955 } a quite good movie.
    Grant's best is - North by Northwest - { 1959 }.
    Grant always looked his best.Which might explain why the
    Academy never allowed him an Oscar.He was too easily typecast
    as an immaculately attired Snoot.Which got boring after awhile.
    I never liked Grants roles till the 50's.
    He did one called - People Will Talk - { 1951 } and - Monkey Business - { 1952 }
    Did - Father Goose - { 1964 } and was unshaven throughout.
    The reason for Grant was ... I kept thinking about when he retired and
    how he looked.I remember his Hair ... mostly.Like White.He never seemed
    to age but he did have White hair.
    His was a strange beginning.He had a Mother who was Institutionalized
    { deemed crazy } and he left home { Bristol } at age 14 { when most kids
    are Freshman in High School } to join a Troupe and learn how to perform.
    Acrobatics and pantomime.He had a distinct style.Whihc limited his
    acting.He'd have a hard time playing a Priest or Bad Guy.
    Or a Baseball Player.Lest of which a dockworker like Terry Malloy { Brando }
    Or a Union thug { Johnny Friendly or a Charlie the Gent }.
    But I guess he coulda. If only he woulda or maybe shoulda.
