I've been wanting one of these for years.. but too pricey. But i finally decided to just go for it, and skip meals for the next few months.. Here it is.. Smith and Wesson model 317. 22 lr 8 round cylinder 12 oz Scandium frame 3" barrel Single/double action I think it will replace my NAA black widow as a pocket 22, when out on walks. I'm going to the range later to try it out.
Everybody has their druthers. I have gone through a lot of pocket options and currently have more than one... depending on my mood that day. Then, are the smorgasbord at gun shows that spark the impulse to try something new... never ends for me.
I carry a pocket 22 occasionally, when taking my wife's little dog for a walk, here in the desert, where coyotes and cats hunt such pets. Its not for 2 legged predators.. I'd pack a 45 if worried about them.. I got it to the range, and was very impressed.. accurate (for a 3" bbl), lightweight, compact, tight.. a nicely made revolver, but still too pricey. If in bear country, I'd take something a little bigger. I have several revolvers & autos in 22, but i think this one will be at the top for it's intended purpose.. a lightweight kit gun or pocket 22. It would be wholly inadequate for a zombie apocalypse, but it will be fine for my intent.
