Conservatives and libertarians on PF, what age range do you fall in?

    A. Under 25

    B. 25-40

    C. 40-60

    D. 60-80

    E. Over 80

(I don't expect a scientific result, but am curious where the bar graph measures out in an age/political ideology ranking. The poll has anonymous voting, if you wish to make known your vote, that is your option via a comment post.)

    19. Just why are you grouping together conservatives and libertarians though?

Many conservatives claim to be libertarian, so I wanted to give them that option, without them saying "I'm not a conservative...I'm a libertarian, so I won't answer your poll"

If you are a libertarian, the Comments section is available to announce that.

The other reason I lump them together is a hypothesis of mine on how the age data will show up. Naturally, I won't announce that until I see the results and see if it is accurate or inaccurate.

You create a thread every couple of weeks affirming that conservatives are all old and dying off. Are you suddenly less sure about your talking point?

Actually, Brewskier that is NOT my hypothesis...atleast not entirely.

Do you care to respond to the poll?

I see, so if the data agrees with your "hypothesis" (look at you, trying to sound scientific), it's accurate, and if it doesn't, it'll be "inaccurate". That's called a confirmation bias.

No, if my theory is inaccurate, I'll come up with a new theory based on the data.

The scientific method. Do you wish to reveal YOUR answer, Brewskier?

My money is on "spinning the data to support my progressive Democrat position".

Like I've told you before, my age is shown in my profile. I don't keep it a secret like you do.

As it turns out (see Rand Paul and his flip-flop on war) there really is little difference when the rubber meets the road. Libertarians are a little less likely to get into social issues unless those issues involve abortion, gays, race, etc.

seems strange to include 25-year-olds and 40-year-olds in the same age group. Also, you put both 40-year-olds and 60-year-olds in multiple groups.

Conservatives are probably older than average, but then again...

You'd like to think so, wouldn't ya? Fact is that if it wasn't for an allergic reaction to Loser Bush and a refusal to accept that he was once your boy, neither Libertarians nor Tea Partiers would exist.

Hypothesis to theory to law = Scientific method

Overly simplistic perhaps, but in general this is how it works.

An hypothesis is developed first. Supporting data is used as evidence to strengthen the hypothesis into a theory. Peer review and further data strengthens the theory into a law.

I'm guessing your hypothesis is that Conservatives/Libertarians tend to be in an older demographic. Once your data set is complete you can use the following descriptors as evidence in support of your hypothesis; possibly you can then move to theory.

mean - the "average", where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers
    median - the middle number
mode - the number that is repeated more often than any other
range - the difference between the largest and smallest values

Others can compile similar data sets and strengthen or weaken your theory, and if enough peer review arrives at the same conclusion based on the evidence. You have a law.

It's a matter of fact. Libertarianism is based upon the pursuit of liberty for moral and practical reasons. Conservatism is not. If you don't know that, what are you even doing on a political forum?

This would be accurate a few years ago but there have already been several surveys recently showing that the is a strong Libertarian bent in millenials and younger people. They are beginning to reject the obnoxious authoritarianism of liberalism and the religious hyperbole of social conservatism.

The next generation of "Republicans" are going to be younger but they will not be like the current gen in regards to their politics. Our secret plot to take over the GOP is on its way to succeeding and then we can focus on annihilating progressives and their endless desire to control people.

If your standard is going to be based on how politicians treat war, then Obama and the Clintons have shown us that Liberals = Conservatives.

I reject your labels, as I am fiercely independent.

And I am 55 years old.

Wow, this is fascinating. As of right now, we can conclude that about 81% of conservatives are between the ages of 25 and 60.

    Riveting.

Do you make it a point to embarrass yourself, or is it something you just can't control?

Maybe they make em different round these parts, but most libertarians I speak to are very vocal on a range of social issues.

My social policy mostly transitioned from my time as Progressive, so I have similar social policy positions, although different justifications.

I'd be more likely to lump Rand in with the social conservatives than the libertarians. He runs a very fine line.

81% of conservatives HERE...at Political Forum. Which is starting to bolster my theory.

So it's progressives who have sent more people/capita to prison for major offenses such as being nabbed with two j's in a glove compartment. And it's progressives who want to implant cameras in vaginas so they'll know when a woman has a abortion. And it's progressive who want to mandate reprogramming for gays to make them straight like everybody else. And it's progressives who want to outlaw people marrying whoever they please. It's progressives who want to control people??? LMFAO.

You're a funny man reallybigjohnson, but better luck next time, eh?
