I haven't seen an answer to my question which is: How can you hold these Christian values and at the same time support this vile, immoral, corrupt person. My intent was not to start the typical Tumper/anti-Trumper flame fest. I really want to know how you can morally hold these two things in your head at the same time. There is a cognitive dissonance that is alarming to me mostly because it is apparently so wide spread.

Probably they don't consider him a vile, immoral, corrupt person. I don't either. I just view him as a man who is bad at politics and saddled with a bad personality. And I'm not even religious.

 

How do those of the so called Christian right rationalize their love of guns which result in at least 100 lives lost every day and another 200 wounded with the commandment Thou shalt not kill??? We live in a perpetual war zone.

To the overwhelming majority of Americans, guns are merely toys. Not for actual killing (even for hunting). Sure most Americans try to play up justification for guns for "self defense", "protecting freedom" and "holding government accountable" but those are just noble sounding excuses. In the end it is simply people loving things that make big noise and spit fire.

 

Not a new phenomenon it has been going on all of my life, we are the only country in the world obsessed with guns that I am aware of.

 

Americans are not as obsessed with guns as you think. IIRC there are actually fewer gun owners in the U.S. than there used to be. But the average gun owners possess more weapons individually so the raw numbers of firearms in the U.S. rises.

 

We have more LEGAL registered guns than we have total people.
