Same tired BS since the early 80s. Every election, but but THIS TIME it's true!

No one's buying, all played out.

Here's a thought. Maybe try campaigning on actual policy rather than stale identity politics, fear-mongering and lie narratives for a change?

Republicans are responsible for the illegals?

Now that is some of the best spin I've seen in some time.

I know the dems who are not in power are responsible for the illegals..Trump and the GOP Congress can't handle the load...Not at the moment.

    I'm an independent Christian conservative/fiscal conservative, and liberal on many issues, such as;

    Health care.....I strongly support "Essential Care For All" for the following reasons;

    a. According to my CFO cost based analysis, my employer would end up saving near $26 million annually, and "most" employees/tax payers would also save money.

"most".....if financed through payroll/FICA, I'll end up paying approx. $750 more, and I'm ok with that.

    b. Everyone would be adequately insured.

Last, I didn't need the tax cuts, near $4,000, and I do give back approx. 10% of my take home, cash and in-kind

There is no need to reduce benefits....just a change of mentality would save Uncle Sam, and the tax payers hundreds of billions.

It would seem anything the GOP has tried to do has been met with outrage by the New Democratic Party and their media partners.

Add in the invitation illegal aliens receive from States like California, and it can't even be implied the GOP can't handle the load.

    They aren't being allowed to.

I do blame the GOP....the GOP has created a booming economy, of course people want to come here for a better life. We saw a massive down tick when the Dems had control and gave us double digit unemployment.

    Ok.

What would you have them do?

    Reformed ?

To balance the books, there seem to be only two approaches - increase the amount of money coming and/or reduce the amount of money flowing out.

The GOP is committed to tax cuts so increasing the amount of money coming in is out of the question - which leaves decreasing the amount of money flowing out.

There is some scope to do this with Medicare without necessarily reducing coverage. If costs were at European levels then a lot more could be done with the same amount of money or the same amount could be done with less money. This would require (even more) government interference with the healthcare market - not something I think the GOP would welcome.

As far as Social Security is concerned, one suggestion is that people should be free to invest their social security contributions in the market and as a result will have a much bigger pension. This is exactly the same movement from "defined benefits" to "defined contributions" pension schemes that has happened for private pensions which has resulted in all but the wealthiest pensioners far worse off.

Depending on employer, industry and length of service someone in a white collar job might expect to retire on 50%-65% of final salary (if they had spent their entire career there). That might reasonably be £20k-£30k a year pension, index linked. With current (low) annuity rates, a non-smoking man retiring at 65 would require a pension pot of at least £500k to get the lower amount. The average UK private pension pot is around 10% of that.

Well first....tax revenue has never gone down after any major tax cut...in fact it's gone up. But go ahead and campaign on raising taxes...I' sure it will go well

Secondly, nobody has cut the medicare/medicaid or SS tax that is taken out of one's payroll. Certainly everything else you mentioned are possible reforms to the unsubstainable programs

Go ahead and nominate Warren and make her your Presidential candidate in 2020, make that white woman trying to be black her running mate. a better representative for the party of lies and deceit couldn't be found, The only change that is likely to happen to social security is that the retirement age will be bumped up another year or two. This is going to have to happen no matter who runs congress. The rest of the OP is bunkum and skunk oil in a stupid attempt to scare those seniors who can't do math.

This is one of the most daft posts yet. Who gave us double digit unemployment and when? Sorry to be so crass, but I hate liars.

Social Security and Medicare are . . . ENTITLEMENTS???

No they are not. They are government programs that were paid for by the recipients by having paid FICA taxes throughout their working life. Farm subsidies, Medicaid and a nearly countless number of benefits not paid by the recipients are entitlements.

Under Obama, Republican controlled House districts were targeted for Medicare denials.

"The order is part of a law suit the American Hospital Association (AHA) filed against HHS and in response to a June
2016 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report that found that from fiscal years
2010 to 2014 the number of appeals had increased greatly causing appeals decisions to be made past the 90-day statutory time frame." KLD - Johns Hopkins

So much for the Democratic "talking point" premise that healthcare is a right. More total BS from the Progressive slave traders.

In reality, the Dems have done much more to screw up Medicare than anything that the Republicans have.

So, why would anyone trust the Democrats with, "Medicare for All," when they have shown that they are mean spirited SOBs who would pick and choose who they favor?

McConnell is not going to do anything to those items. This is nothing more than political grandstanding for the republican base. As long as you talk about cutting them it’s not necessary to follow thru. This is how campaign rhetoric works.

The GOP gave us double digit inflation because of their programs from 1994-2006 leading to the crash of 2008.

I hope the GOP floats a plan to cut SS and Medicare next year if they have the House or the Senate.

    Please!

Well, if you never pay into something then you don't have a right to something others have!
That the inherent flaw in the leftist and the very reason they are in conflict with rational society! Event the first colonies to the America's learned quickly that entitlement leads to starvation! And quickly adopted fair share for fair contribution!
