Great commercial, thanks for posting. I'll enlighten the board on the "Bilbo Baggins" reference. Apparently Leonard Nimoy attempted a singing career at one point. You think that's bad? You haven't seen bad, around the same time Leonard Nimoy launched his "singing" career so did William Shatner aka Capt. Kirk. Here's Shatner's rendition of Mr. Tambourine man...I'll save you the trouble and "pain" from enduring the whole rendition..scroll to around the 3:23 mark... Mr. Tambourine Man!!!...wow, is all I can say.
Actually, the one I couldn't bear to watch all of was Spock's song. Kirk's was actually so bad that I laughed all the way through it.
In fairness to Shatner the Tambourine Man video is poor sound quality...to truly capture his "rap" style of song rendition, here's his take on Elton John's classic "Rocket Man."
That's not rap. Closer to Beatnik, but I don't know what you'd call it. I always wonder if Shatner knows how ridiculous he is, or if he's serious when he does this kind of stuff.
Spock's hobbit song was worse, I think. Whereas Spock's song was just embarrassingly bad from simple lameness, Kirk's was so outrageously bad that it was actually hilarious and entertaining.
No, it was past being so outrageously bad it was entertaining; it was so far past that it was solid awful. And I'm saying that even though I'm a big fan of Shatner.
