There are some sports that I love and others I hate.

I love Snooker and follow most tournaments. I have played myself, highest break 121.
I love golf and watch most games. I also play, in fact I have played since I was old enough to hold a club.
I hate football or soccer since money took over and ruined the game. Although I follow England's National Team, mainly since watching them win in 1966 at Wembley. I think it is the foreign input to domestic football that stopped us winning national trophies.
I hate rugby and American Football.
I love field and track athletics.
I am still on the fence about Baseball.
Love Basketball, especially the Harlem Globetrotters.
Love fencing and shooting. I still keep having a go myself, and have a few scars from fencing.
Hate any horse event, so cruel.
Cricket is great only at county level, not too keen on this 20/20 stuff. National cricket is below par especially recently.
Motor Racing, not a fan of Formula One. Love Rallying.
    Bowls, nice gentle sport.
Not a fan of any racquet sports, ie; Tennis, Badmington or Table Tennis.
Cycling is good, however Lance Armstrong let the side down.
    Darts is not a sport.
Had a go at mountain climbing, however that is not a serious sport.
    Tried my hand at yachting.

I think that covers most sports. Suspect I have missed quite few and perhaps you will disagree with my likes and hates.

There aren't too many sports that I care for. Football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf... the major sports basically... do nothing at all for me. Whether it be watching or participating, just not my cup o' tea. I never understand how people get so worked up over their teams.

I do like mountain biking, running, kayaking, and martial arts/combat sports.

some of us prefer team sports and others solo events, you apparently prefer the solo type...and that's okay, I prefered highly competitive team sports, wyly jr just the opposite of his dad prefers swimming alone, and has no interest in competing

any sport can be fun when you participate, and even more fun when you're good at it...

True indeed, I definitely prefer activities which do not require a great deal of team work, and I really don't care much for competition... even though it's an unavoidable aspect of martial arts.

I'd imagine my attitude and interest are the result of both nurture and nature. My Dad never forced me to get involved in sports in school, even though he was jockish in school. I took naturally to running track and then later martial arts. He was proud and happy, but never put much pressure on me to be the best I could be. I'm glad for that and plan to raise my son the same way.

Your dad was a wise man...

I was in tae kwon do for a number of years I didnt like the competitive part, had to stop due to stress on my kness.... loved the team competition of soccer, repeated knees injuries ended that as well...

Damn injuries! I tore cartilage between the ribs during Judo, and it hasn't been right since. I keep getting injuries around the same area. Slipped a rib most recently, been out of commission for about six weeks...

Rib injuries rank right up there. I broke a rib after taking a hard hook to the body and it was probably the worst injury Ive had. It was painful of course, but the lingering pain is what really sucked. Every cough, every sneeze, etc I felt it for weeks.

That's no joke. You're not very aware of the musculoskeletal system until you injure some part of it.

Aside from what you mention, sitting up was pure torture for me.

a teammate who also an orthopedic surgeon told me injuries only heal temporarily, the damage is long term and cumulative, they come back to haunt you when you're older....I had multiple knee injuries and surgeries a physio at the time for post surgery recover said at the time, "I'll see you back here in about 20yrs"...I was back in 17....on the bright side I have a handicap parking pass for those days where every step hurts...

I believe it. It certainly gives one 'cause for pause' as they get older. Gotta focus on your limitations, pay attention when your body starts talking to you!

An upside to everything I suppose

Big time fight ender. It put my ass down. It was one of those things where you start off throwing 50 % power and after you get punched a few good times things start to escalate into 100%. Most painful punch I've taken for sure, and in terms of general pain throughout my life it's got to be right at the top.

from a martial arts viewpoint all your power comes from your core, a broken rib really sucks the strength out of the target, no strength and victim cant hurt you or even run after you should you choose to leave...and thinking back now my instructor always said fight only when there is no choice, hit once with power and get away...

Is that a sport, or a sports themed show?
