It does seem that the Ferengi were Roddenberry's stand in for Jews, and the Bajorans (who participated in several suicide bombings) were the stand in for Muslims. Who would have known that Roddenberry was so anti Semitic?

I thought it had been established that the transporter destroys your body in making a copy to recreate elsewhere.

"All the regular cast members"? What, you can't handle that the show focuses on the best people, and makes them the heroes? How many shows DON'T do that? Have you ever seen an Admiral the TNG? Almost all of them seem to be corrupt. But just keep ignoring that, since it interferes with your narrative.

I always enjoyed Star Trek. Star Wars had the action, but Star Trek tried to balance the action with a message and some tech too. Nothing wrong with that. I never felt brainwashed, although my mind might be too dirty for that regardless...

    But I digress...

Michio Kaku has a youtube video where he answers a question about a transporter beam and what would happen to your soul if the matter of your body was destroyed and the info beamed somewhere to be recreated from new matter.

I sent him an email asking why we couldn't do this:

    1) Use a Higgs Boson field to remove the mass from your matter.

    2) Transport the massless or low mass matter in a beam. (Similar to Zipping a large file for download.)

    3) Pass the massless or low mass matter through a Higgs Boson field at the destination to reintroduce your mass.

It seems to me that you wouldn't need to destroy the matter and recreate it, when the problem lies in transporting the MASS of the matter, not the matter itself.

Probably would work great as a diet tool too.

Unfortunately, he never emailed me back, so I'm pretty sure I stumped him. /kidding
