    Fake news?
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/21/joe-biden-lockdown-us-coronavirus-400126

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said he would do "whatever it takes" to combat the spread of coronavirus within the country — including locking down the U.S. if deemed necessary.

“I would shut it down; I would listen to the scientists,” Biden told ABC’s David Muir in a joint interview with his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, to air Sunday. “We’re going to do whatever it takes to save lives.”

    Thanks.
In his shoes, if the scientific community said shut it down, what would you do?

GOP has moved closer and closer to the 2.2, now conceding 2.0 trillion dollars of the Pelosi ask. Even liberal media is calling out Pelosi as she is holding Americans hostage.

Probably not go thru another crippling shutdown that only delays the spread.

If the cure is worse than the disease, I'd surely take the scientist under advisement and take precautions to protect our most vulnerable while ensure the cure does not destroy our way of life and kill more people long term.

I still do hate corporate bailouts. I would focus the AID on two things. 1) The SBA and 2) Middle-class Americans and Americans capped off at 200 K/year. The States do have their issues, but their issues are for the state governments to figure out, not for Pelosi to use as leverage.

Wall Street tumbles when there is no aid package.
Wall Street tumbles when mass media starts talking about debt.
Wall Street tumbles when government raised taxes.

So, no matter what you do - it will tumble, unless, of course, you are willing to front cash from your personal bank account to issue everyone a $1200 check + $600 weekly to the unemployed. ;)

It's not about the absolute amount. It is about the GOP trying to punish blue states.

Holding people hostage to reduce taxes in blue states. That doesn't help your argument.

The only thing that moves the GOP is the stock market.

That’s the only reason the first round of Covid relief passed the GOP Senate

Republicans were saying that back in April to lift shutdowns. The shutdowns at that time were in no way crippling. Fighting the shutdowns and opening things up while ignoring science was like taking half a dose of medicine and then throwing caution to the wind.

Italy has been locked down since day one and their infection rate per capita is more than double that of the United States and the mortality rate is nearly triple that of the US. Sweden, who has not locked down also has a much lower infection rate and mortality rate.

Again, the cure can be much worse than the disease. Even with an infection rate increasing, COVID deaths are on a steady decline, yet, our overlords want to add more restrictions and lock downs, damn the mental health and harm they are doing!

Why do you think every country is experience lock down protest against their own governments?

I have an idiot friend that keeps trying to tell me that Pelosi has passed a number of stimulus ONLY bills that either the Republicans in the Senate won't take up or Trump refused to sign them. Where do you suppose this Einstein gets his news?
He has chosen to believe that there is no pork whatsoever and it is stimulus and only stimulus and ONLY Pelosi has done it. This is why this country is so "f'd" up.

Italy was hit very early and had a very vulnerable population in high density. The US had an extra month to prepare.

    The Heroes Act

ETA: I see your confusion. You think that aid to states, businesses and people shouldn't be included, only money for corporations?

I quite agree - the cure cannot be worse than the disease. And we also have to ensure that the lives of Americans are more important than making a buck, if it comes down to that. We're not there now, needing to make that decision.

The Dow has taken a dive...because no Covid Relief package has passed.

    Thanks McConnell

It's not merely making a buck. It's people losing everything. Science states that people are surviving the virus more and more, yet we are destroying many peoples lives with more and more lockdowns. As long as you have your job and home, how many more peoples lives are you willing to destroy?

And italy has not come out of lockdown while the US started loosening restrictions, yet our mortality rate continues to go down.

Question for you; How many homeless are you willing to accept? 10 million? 15 million? Does it matter to you?

What is an acceptable unemployment rate to protect us? 12%... 15%... 30%?
