House Democrats subpoena Trump’s tax returns from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, IRS chief

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/10/hou...mnuchin-irs-chief-over-trump-tax-returns.html

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass., said Friday that he has issued subpoenas to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig demanding six years of President Donald Trump’s federal tax returns.

The subpoenas came four days after Mnuchin said that he would not allow Trump’s personal and business tax returns to be released to Congress because he had determined that the request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose.”

Trump moves to resist House inquiries, setting up fight over congressional subpoena powers.

Probably not. Common knowledge understands that the requests are for information not needed and not even wanted. They are simply for political power. I doubt legitimate requests will be denied.

They are all legitimate, lawful requests. Making the blanket statement absolutely none of the current or future requests will be responded to is so far outside the bounds of historical precedent it's difficult to comprehend.

That is one way to look at it. It doesn't agree with the way I look at it.

You called the administration, "lawless." What are you basing that on?

Do you have any complains about how Republicans acted in the F&F case?

Well then why don't you tell me how Barr can help them impeach Trump. I thought Barr was appointed to PROTECT Trump. And you think that he could help to impeach Trump?

    #LindseyGrahamResign trends on Twitter

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/443550-lindseygrahamresign-trending-on-twitter

Calls for Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to resign began trending on Twitter Tuesday morning after the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman encouraged President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., to plead the Fifth.

Graham on Monday said Trump Jr. should refuse to answer questions from the Senate Intelligence Committee, which subpoenaed Trump Jr. to testify about his communication with Russian officials.

This falls in to the category of irony so thick you can cut it with a knife. Here is part of the WH's letter to the House Judiciary Committee announcing their refusal to cooperate with any investigation.

"Congressional investigations are intended to obtain information to aid in evaluating potential legislation, not to harass political opponents or to pursue an unauthorized 'do-over' of exhaustive law enforcement investigations conducted by the Department of Justice,"

I call your attention to........"not to harass political opponents."

The number of DOJ investigations in to the Groper-in-Chief's political enemies launched by Billy the Bagman at Don's insistence is up to three.

The descent of the US to banana republic status at the behest of the Orange Fraud is shocking to watch.

Treasury Refuses Dem Subpoena For Trump Tax Returns

    https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/treasury-refuses-subpoena-for-trump-taxes

The Treasury Department confirmed Friday it would not comply with a congressional subpoena for the President’s personal and business tax returns, setting the stage for a high-profile court battle.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin wrote in a Friday letter that the request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose,” basing his conclusion upon an as-of-yet unreleased legal opinion from the Department of Justice.

House Ways and Means Committee chair Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) said on CNN on Friday that he expected to file a lawsuit to obtain the information as early as next week, should Treasury miss the deadline as expected.

White House blocks former counsel McGahn from testifying to Congress

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...4f3edf1351e_story.html?utm_term=.cbab91bc702f

The White House on Monday blocked former counsel Donald McGahn from testifying to Congress, the latest act of defiance in the ongoing war between House Democrats and President Trump.

McGahn, who Democrats hoped would become a star witness in their investigation into whether Trump obstructed justice, was subpoenaed to testify Tuesday morning. The former White House counsel delivered critical testimony in several instances of potential obstruction by Trump detailed in special counsel Robert. S. Mueller III’s report.

Apparently Nadler won’t accept the mueller report. McGahn’s testimony is reported there...no crimes.

Therefore...take it to court! Hahah I think the Judicial branch will love the fact the Dems want to break the centuries old attorney client privledge

As much as I think it would be persuasive to people who haven't read Mueller's report to hear McGahn detail the instances in which he was told to help the Orange Turd to obstruct justice, Congress has what it needs from what is in the report.

McGahn's testimony is one element that over 1,000 former prosecutors found would be enough to indict anyone but the prez due to the OLC prohibition.

Federal court presses Trump administration to release Khashoggi documents

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...e-khashoggi-documents/?utm_term=.0f09db139f4f

More than six months after Saudi government agents brutally murderedPost contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi, the Trump administration has yet to publicly reveal what it knows about the crime and how it has handled the investigation. But a federal judge is pressing the U.S. government to release more information, and faster — or the court could force it to do so.

On April 19, the federal court for the Southern District of New York held its first hearing in the Open Society Justice Initiative’s case against seven government agencies under the Freedom of Information Act. The nongovernmental organization, funded by George Soros, is trying to compel the U.S. government — including the CIA, the Justice Department and the State Department — to produce all records related to the killing and the killers, including the CIA’s reported assessment that the murder was ordered by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
