Studying is different from actually taking action. Their 'studying' has led to a variety of conclusions.

Scientific studies have shown the world is cooling and that we'd all starve quite soon. Apparently scientists fixed that problem a couple of decades ago but may have gone too far. Now they have to correct that trajectory until they get it right and slow the warming down a little. They're adjusting the planetary thermostat. (That's my effort at sarcasm!)
