It's interesting that the study says Whites implicitly view Blacks as appearing like apes - meaning, underneath the facade of political correctness, reality plays out. The article emphasizes skin color. I wonder, however, if what really makes Blacks resemble apes to Whites are facial features, such as broad nose and pragnathism.

Everyone has innate prejudices. The key is to recognize them and not let them unduly affect your actions. And there are all sorts of facial features among primates. :)

You left a few things out- like the title of the article

    The Dehumanization of Black People

Recent research tested if White Americans implicitly dehumanize Black Americans.

So, although no one would probably say they think Black people are ape-like, research shows that, at an implicit (but important) level, people do think just that.

Perhaps, findings like this, by uncovering such dehumanization, can aid in the future reduction of racial conflict.

Nowhere in the article though it does it say that Black may look like apes- that is entirely your opinion.

The portion you quoted says just that - "research shows that, at an implicit (but important) level, people do think just that [Black people are ape-like]".

I think it's prejudiced to think Blacks look like apes, but an entirely reasonable belief.

You can't say it's 'prejudiced' that a certain cloud in the sky looks like a turkey; that doesn't make sense.
