Supreme Court clears the way for House to get Trump White House documents

(CNN)The Supreme Court cleared the way Wednesday for the release of presidential records from the Trump White House to a congressional committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

The court's order means that more than 700 documents will be transferred to Congress that could shed light on the events leading up to the insurrection when hundreds of rioters converged on the Capitol attempting to stop certification of the 2020 presidential election results.

Only Justice Clarence Thomas said publicly that he would have granted former President Donald Trump's request to block the document handover from the National Archives to the House select committee. The other justices did not make their votes public.

This will reveal Trump's own words and deeds as evidence of his crimes against the Constitution and the American people. The only question that remains is whether he should be allowed to stall the consequences by appealing the judgement all the way up to the SCOTUS, or whether courts should deny him at some point. That is for them to decide, but things are going to start heating up for him and his kids.

 

I am of the belief that the Trump Criminal Admin would not have implicated themselves in crimes and then memorialized them to the NA. However, I also would not have believed that certain state houses would have sent fake docs to the NA either. We shall see.

It's to be expected that MAGA's will qualify Supreme Court Justices as new members of the swamp.

It was obvious that Trump would lose, as he will lose the majority of the countless lawsuits that await him in the coming years.

It has been a rather lengthy and laborious process for Congress and the New York Attorney General alike to get through his WALL of obstruction. It's not that "this is the time," but that things are finally moving forward in a meaningful way. It helps when radical alt-right members of Congress and crony appointees are no longer able to shield him.

What is this big revelation you expect here?

 

Instead of trolling, why don't you discuss the facts and events at hand? Trump praised rather than condemned the violence on January 6 and continues to go down the rabbit hole of defending the insurrectionists to this day. He played a part in organizing what ultimately turned out to be an insurrection and delivered a speech on that day calling on those people to march to the Capitol and fight like hell. He subsequently failed to take any action to stop the violence as it raged for hours, choosing instead to tweet in support of it, before finally being talked into making a video statement in which he still praised them for attacking and injuring Capitol police, breaking into the Capitol building and trying -- successfully -- to stop the functioning of the legislative branch of our federal government.

Yes, We the People are going to "get him" because he can't keep important information from Congress or law enforcement indefinitely.

 

It's not a big revelation to me that Michael Cohen was telling the truth in his testimony before Congress.

There might be some bombshells that come out of the Congressional committee's investigation of what went on in the White House last January and in the lead-up to it, though.

 

He was exerting an Executive Privilege which is a perfectly legal act so before you get to some point get your facts straight. The SCOTUS said they must be released and so they shall be. For a defender of separation of powers it is not such a great day because this sets a precedent that can be grossly abused for political purposes. I haven't read the decision yet so I can't comment on their reasonings. But mark my word this will have a marked effect on the effectiveness of the Office of the President and the conversations he can have and advice he can receive in the future.

But again I ask, give me your predictions of what it is this commission will suddenly discover we don't already know?

 

Only if those records show he did something illegal.

 

Something tells me Trump won't be as calm about this as his supporters are.

 

Oh Michael Cohen now, what's he in jail for? Give me something, this probable cause that demands his documents be released to this committee, what's going to be the big revelation about the lead up? What kind of bombshell that has to do with some legislative purpose of a Congressional committee?

Has anyone who has been arrested for the Jan 6 riot been associated by the FBI or any other investigative body involved with anyone at the White House?
