That's a great idea for turning the United STATES of America into a collection of mega cities. Not a pleasant thought. Some states will always be more agrarian than others. You are going to have lower populations in such states.
And understand, were there no electoral college, Trump would have campaigned differently and won anyhow.

Does such ultimately mean the electors in the state of California could vote in favor of Donald Trump, rather than Joe Biden?

I've heard it all before. I want a union of states like the founders wanted and you don't.

It's not just having faith with electors that is the issue. more than a few states have laws that allow electors to vote their conscience. the issue is that in many of the same States the legislators can fire electors at any point and appoint new ones. this allows whichever party controls the state house to remove electors that plan to vote for the opposite party even if that party won the popular vote and replace them with electors that will vote for their party.

this is gets even worse given the fact that most electors are appointed by political parties to begin with. The electoral college should be like jury duty political party should not have any say in who gets appointed. and state legislators should not be allowed to simply remove someone as an elector without a legitimate reason.

LMFAO! If electors could be bought or bribed, Hillary would be in the White House.

Actually, it depended upon the state's rules, so we're both partly correct.

Dirty Donald got quite a bit of relief from his debts from our bankruptcy courts, as he shafted those who sold him both merchandise and their services.

Nullify the EC to legitimize secession and break up the Union.

For better or worse, thats what will happen. The EC is realistically a contractual obligation for FedGov to maintain implimentation of. Many of the 13 colonies refused to join the Union without it, and all of the states that joined since then can claim they joined, at least in part, because of it. If it is anulled or rendered ineffective, states can claim the Union is in violation of the conditions guarranteed at their joining and can claim legitimacy of secession.

Which may be for the better. Its hard to say. But the EC is currently holding the Union together. Secession will become very popular in many areas if the alternative is that their political voice will forever be overruled by CA and NY.

fmw I wouldn't count on that, more people require more infrastructure and schools which require more taxes not less.
