Not true. The Supreme Court has struck down almost every additional requirement any state has ever attempted to impose on candidates, from literacy to religion to property to race. The states essentially have no authority over the qualifications of candidates to stand for office, and that's a good thing. Tax returns will go the same way, and in fairly short order, I'm certain.
