Snopes says the blurb is exactly what I said it was. And it would seem that for years no one thought it was worth the effort to correct it until he ran for president and then the backpedaling began and excuses started.
There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more.”
Well I never wrote a book after being the first black man in history to be editor of the Harvard law review? When you were editor of the Harvard law review did you ever have this problem? LOL
It wasn't "his book". That is, it wasn't written by him. It wasn't even a book, per se. It was an agency promo. The author made a mistake in the bio, and has long since corrected it. From the author: “You’re undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me — an agency assistant at the time,” Goderich wrote. “There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more.” Better luck next time, sport.
So basically ignore evidence that suggest Obama was not born in Kenya. Like obvious errors with the BC in the OP, birth announcement in Hawaiian news paper. Just focus on someone making an error in a pamphlet and cling to it. This is why when fake news is released it usually targets the right. If I can find the source there is an interview with someone saying it is much more difficult to do it to the left. Saying the story usually would be debunked really quickly. If a comment section was available the story was posted would be proven fake. A lot of times within the first couple of comments. Place the story on a notoriously right leaning site and it would be embraced as true.
You do realize that the copy you hold so dearly in your lock box is not your original birth certificate, right? The original resides within the county of your birth. But, it's this ignorance of such fundamental civics that drives these insanely stupid conspiracy theories. Thanks for being part of the ignorant masses. Though I understand that you are not to blame. You've been fed useless information by people who would rather capitalize on your ignorance, and you fell for it.
Wouldn't be the first time that an advertising agency got something wrong and it STILL does not mean the claim was in the book itself - which was YOUR claim
Wouldn't matter he got his citizenship from his father while Obama could only get his by place of birth. You mean after all the years and all the ddiscussions you still don't know the facts?
They would have gotten the iinformation from him and he would have signed off on the final copy. Also pretty incredulis as a budding new author he would not have kept copies for his own files where he is shown with some of the major authors of the time.. It was published several times and he never instructed them tto correct it.
((((((((((((Sigh)))))))))) The claim was not in the book Do some basic research It was an advertising spiel that he may or may not have ever seen
Yeah we know the facts. The facts are that Barrack Obama was born in Hawaii and is a United States citizen as confirmed by the Supreme Court, both aisles of Congress, and the entire state government of Hawaii. Sorry for your loss.
Of course and I didn't say otherwise DUH. Perhaps you have never had such promotional material published about yourself, I have many times. You submit it and you sign off on the final copy. And then you get copies for your own files. The brochure had about 30 of the publishing houses top authors including some of the premier authors in the country and for a budding writer a big honor to be included. And it was used and reprinted for 16 years and only suddenly corrected when he anounced he would run for the Presidency. It is simply incredulous to believe that he never saw it nor kept copies for his future use.
Why my loss when I have never disputed that? Doesn't change the fact that he only got his citizenship by his place of birth not his mother.
More likely much more trials ... but we all know that at Trump are fakes only "Alternative truth and facts" ...
Another possibility is that Obama said he was born in Kenya back in those days, long before he had any aspirations to run for office, because he knew how much that foreign aspect would appeal to many white left-wing xenophiles, as well as black minorities. It would probably help out with the book sale.
You have expressed your skepticism concerning the authenticity of the Kenyan birth certificate shown in this thread. Good. That is your right as Forum posters. Now. WHY do you automatically, and without giving any reason WHY you reject this evidence, cast such opaque doubt on it? From the very beginning, Obama's "story" has been riddled with inconsistencies, contradictions, and vast "dark" areas where no light was allowed in at all. The Connecticut Social Security number. The fraudulent Selective Service submission. The application for college aid, prepared by Obama himself, declaring that he is a citizen of a foreign country. The steadfast refusal to release any information from his college transcripts. On and on and on. So what is it exactly about this Kenyan birth certificate that makes you Obama-lovers so quick to cry "foul"...? Your opinion? Like buttholes, everybody has one....
