So, are you also willing to tell the whole story then? That also includes slavery of lots of other races, including but not limited to caucasians that were sent to the continent to avoid death in prison? Are you willing to include the history of how african slaves were enslaved by their own people and then sold for profit? Would you also include other historical context vis a vis the enslavement of the indigenous tribes and their behaviors and customs of the day? You seem willing to only advance the narrow perspective here. And you seem willing to ignore the totality to focus in such a way to breed hate. Why is that?
Slavery as a whole is part of man's existence on this earth. Each race has at some point or the other enslaved their own as well as others. I don't see an issue with teaching the history of a nation and slavery but it is, for the most part, in the past. Teach it and move on.
I am not a CRT 'enthusiast'. In fact, I'd never heard of it before it started showing up here at PF. But all that I've read and learned flies against what I've bolded. Whiteness is not evil, and children aren't being taught that (unless you can provide a course outline on that very subject). Yes, children's brains are immature. So they need to be taught HOW to think - how to draw conclusions - not WHAT to think. And yes, I agree that it was mostly White Americans who industrialized the nation - but it's no wonder, is it? But on that subject, you have proven the need for true history lessons because children aren't taught about Clara Brown, Madam CJ Malone or Annie Malone, just to name a couple. Wouldn't it benefit today's impoverished Black children to learn that their ancestors, against all the odds, were able to succeed in a White world?
“When it comes to child development, it’s been said that the most crucial milestones in a kid’s life occur by the age of 7. In fact, the great Greek philosopher Aristotleonce said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.”” https://www.healthline.com/health/parenting/first-seven-years-of-childhood
I see. I have been aware of Critical Theory for decades and Critical Race Theory for several years. I have studied the subject and you have not. How do you know what is being taught. I know from reports from parents whose children are subjected to CRT.[/quotfurther Yes, children's brains are immature. So they need to be taught HOW to think - how to draw conclusions - not WHAT to think.[/quote]And how do you draw conclusions without being given the premises from which to draw conclusions? CRT supplies premises which further the goal of dismantling the system.
Absolutely. Thinking for oneself should be delayed at least until college and only for the intelligent among us. Otherwise thinking for oneself leads to a lot of stupidity. who have sprcialized in a field of study.
Anecdotal evidence doesn't do much to move the needle with me. We've been hearing lots of it, but no curriculum or actual lesson plans have been provided on such a current and hotly debated subject. Why is that?
Yes, to turn the child into who you want that child to be... not the free thinker who that child would be.
Teaching history, including slavery, is an art. Understand the environment when such things existed, and then viewing it from the position we now see it from. The people who kept slaves were not 'evil' in the environment it existed in. From todays prospective, it is horrifying, and yes, some were beyond horrifying, but not every slave owner treated them as badly as some would like others to believe. Teaching real, honest history doesn't come from people who demonize either race, or any race. CRT seems to attempt to divide people by the color of their skin. and view 'other than' as the enemy. That is not acceptable.
No. Schools should focus on the basics. Once they cease being a national embarrassment then we can consider social engineering.
Can you back up CRT as a viable help to race relations when you are telling the majority they suck! What is it with you people that think they can solve racism by calling everyone racist! And, lying about history and people of history? All you have to do is google the subject to find out black parents don't like this any more than white parents. Damn Marxists!
Why does it always happen that when liberal folk discuss the nation, they always use the context of "white world"? It's BS, its lazy, it's dishonest. Folks of every flavor have succeeded here in ways that didn't require any more than the knowledge and opportunity to use their own gumption to get after it. From the lowest impoverished person, we see a freely available glide slope of upward ability premised on talent and motivation. That doesn't know race. It is absent a racial component. What liberals intend though, is to sow discord because discord allows folks to be distracted as they work to mold the nation into the authoritarian hell hole they wish it to become. Simple as that.
And that right there should be how history is taught. Now a days too many refuse to "walk a mile in another's shoes". They cannot, or will not, look from other perspectives. That is a must when looking back on history.
LOL!!! If you could only spell generalization. What I wrote is factual truth. What is sick is the attempt of Democrats to call white people racist with no proof.
I do love a good revolution started by idle gossip, speculation and anecdotes. When you have concrete proof, please share it with us.
This is the greatest country the world has ever seen and if it was built by white people then let's just credit them for a job well done.
