You don't seem to make a substantial connection between that and the thread subject. I find no reference to "1619" in any of the previous 6 pages of this thread.

Bullshit. That is just your personal distorted opinion and it is also promoted by the most RW, racist, white supremacist pundits and purveyors of hate.

3.5m teachers, 100,000+ schools, 10,000+ school districts... you're propagandizing the forum.

Yes I read it. Did you read it? It also says "Although the scholarship differs in emphasis and discipline, it is united by an interest in understanding and rectifying the ways in which a regime of white supremacy and its subordination of people of color in America has had an impact on the relationship between social structure and professed ideals such as “the rule of law” and “equal protection.

"Put simply, according to Crenshaw, who coined the term intersectionality, which refers to how different forms of discrimination (such as sexism and racism) can overlap and compound each other, critical race theory is a way to talk openly about how America’s history has had an effect on our society and institutions today.

We need to pay attention to what has happened in this country and how what has happened is continuing to create differential outcomes, so that we can become the democratic republic we say we are,” Crenshaw explained."

True! And BTW, it can be said that schools are not teaching CRT; they are implementing it. CRT was developed by intellectuals in universities. Think of it like the Powell Memorandum, ...--the RW didn't teach the Powell Memo. They implemented it.

    You're promoting a fiction.

There are enough problems with government-run schools I'm a voucher supporter (provided they're big enough poor people can put their kid in a good private school without having to top up the voucher), but CRT isn't a big deal.

Right. "Indoctrination" when implemented, like the Powell Memorandum involved plenty of indoctrination when implemented.

Would of thought it was obvious. I claimed CRT is "intended by design to foster racial division." The BLM riots we saw for months were an example of the racial division and one of the most prominent promoters of CRT today is proud to believe that her work has produced the riots. AS IF thats what she intended.

    "of"???? "OF"??
The expression is "I would HAVE THOUGHT it was obvious".

So then there is obviously a problem with your thinking, and I believe the problem is that of unexamined assumptions.

LOL!!! YOU STILL haven't made any connection between what you're saying and some "1619 Project"!!

And regarding your "facts", there were no "BLM riots". There were riots mostly populated and perpetrated by anarchists who thought they could cause a revolution. The racial tensions and divisions were cause by RWers..... --racists, white supremacists, haters. AND, you are much too short of links and reliable evidence for your specious claims. I REJECT your assertion of "one of the most prominent promoters of CRT today" without reliable evidence.

I would have thought it was obvious. That better?

Obvious for most, not all. Better?

Understanding and rectifying the impact of racism is ongoing. It isn't CRT to show students the impact of redlining on education.

That's what's being done in school to grade 12. Or do you think the teacher is assigning college treatises and research for 5th graders to study?

Then if you have any argument at all, you should develop and post it if you want to continue this.

    Already have

You claim there werent any BLM riots. The NY post article that labeled the riots as in support of BLM disagrees. Hannah Jones referring to the same riots was honored that some were referring to those BLM riots as the 1619 riots.

You claim Hannah isnt a proponent of CRT

Hannah-Jones rose to fame and won the Pulitzer for her work on The New York Times’ “1619 Project,” which reframed U.S. history through a racial equity lens and helped mainstream the idea of critical race theory ....

And my comment on that is that if CRT teaches historical facts and the actual results of that factual history, then it is not valid to say CRT "is intended by design to foster racial division." !!

And you're not able to find a reliable source for that? NY Post is known far and wide as a favorite RW lying rag. And like so many, my own experience shows it's true.

Did I say that? Where did I say that? You have a bad habit of paraphrasing according to your own biases instead of quoting directly. Show me where I mentioned "Hannah".

Good for her! Good job! So what am I supposed to see in that as "bad"? What's your problem with it?

It can be explained to Grade 12s, and sometimes I would take a difficult subject and help them with it so they could get a feel for how it would be treated in university. But there's no real point to digging deep when there are so many skills they must learn to do well in college or university.
Rightwing extremists have public schools as a favorite target. They ousted a conservative school board in my community and then proceeded to attack teachers with lies. Without going into details, the community rose up and replaced them with a conservative board. Other communities will have to go through the same process. If they're constructive like we were, they may well end up with a better school system.
It's no fun for the people in the school system with bullies and liars either getting on the school board or trying to win seats.

Had the same thing a few years ago with "intelligent design". I am continually amazed at how people can apparently be well meaning and so stupid at the same time.

Schools Disobeying The Will of The People put on notice:

The Hill reported, "The chairman of a Texas state House committee tasked with conducting investigations is launching a probe into books that school librarians keep on their shelves in the wake of a measure the legislature passed earlier this year to bar teaching of critical race theory in public schools."

"In a letter to the Texas Education Agency and school superintendents, state Rep. Matt Krause (R) asked school leaders to identify the number of copies of hundreds of specific books they have sitting on library shelves, and how much money the districts paid to purchase those books."

"Krause cited five Texas school districts that have recently removed some books from their libraries or classrooms after objections from parents and students. Krause asked the districts to provide information about books that deal with sexuality, sexually transmitted disease, AIDS and HIV and 'material that might make students feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress because of their race or sex.'"

The Hill didn't report, "After parent complaints about the use of racist epithets in 'To Kill a Mockingbird;' 'Adventures of Huckleberry Finn;' 'The Cay;' 'Of Mice and Men;' and 'Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry', the Burbank (CA) Unified School District superintendent issued a statement removing the books from the district’s required reading lists for its English curriculum and banned the use of the N-word in all school classes. The books will be allowed in classroom libraries, but no student can be required to read them. At a board meeting, the superintendent stated, 'This is not about censorship, this is about righting the wrongs of the past.'"

"I don't want to hear any complaints about censorship from any liberal."

    Me neither.

Professor Seth Cotlar said in praise of the project that it "is not about history. It's about memory; about what parts of the nation's past we should hold in our memories going forward & about how we tell the story of the nation to our children.”

“I’ve always said that the 1619 Project is not a history. It is a work of journalism that explicitly seeks to challenge the national narrative and, therefore, the national memory. The project has always been as much about the present as it is the past.”

"The fight here is about who gets to control the national narrative, and therefore, the nation’s shared memory of itself," she continued this week. “One group has monopolized this for too long in order to create this myth of exceptionalism."

“I’ve said consistently that the 1619 Project is an origin story, not the origin story,”
1619 Project founder claims her project is simply an 'origin story,' not history | Washington Examiner

Max Horkheimer first defined critical theory (German: Kritische Theorie) in his 1937 essay "Traditional and Critical Theory", as a social theory oriented toward critiquing and changing society as a whole, in contrast to traditional theory oriented only toward understanding or explaining it. Wanting to distinguish critical theory as a radical, emancipatory form of Marxist philosophy,
    Critical theory - Wikipedia
"Modern industrial societies have furthermore created an "affluent society", which in increasing comfort have disguised the exploitative nature of the system, and have therefore strengthened means of domination and control. Modern "affluent society" therefore limits opportunities for political revolution against capitalism....."
    One-Dimensional Man - Wikipedia

Its not history. It's an origin story, a myth to shape the present and future. All marxist ideology relies upon fostering division between the oppressed and oppressors. The division between the bourgeoisie and proletariat, capitalist and worker, is replaced with the whites and blacks under CRT

It became clear that we needed to continue organizing and building Black power across the country. People were hungry to galvanize their communities to end state-sanctioned violence against Black people, the way Ferguson organizers and allies were doing. Soon we created the Black Lives Matter Global Network infrastructure.

    Your interpretation.

BLM angers racists because BLM is counter-racism. CRT angers racist because CRT is counter-racism. The point being made by those who are angered by these things is that they don't want racism to end. They don't want the problem solved because they don't see a problem with it.
