Ted Cruz flew to Cancun with family amid Texas power crisis

Most senators would do it without needing to be asked. Cruz can also help with food banks and clean water or something.

 

His presence in Texas would have been a morale booster for the people there. Plus I understand that FEMA sent in generators and other assistance and he could have been present there as a show of support from the federal government.

 

Cruz can't do anything himself. The state govenor handles all disasters.

In this case the govenor will coordinate with the power companies.

Come back to reality people.

I managed to do things to help without having any political power at all. Others have done more than Cruz with less political power. Catch up. Don't lecture people about "reality" until you are prepared to actually come to terms with it. Turns out that there is more to reality than just ignoring it in order to defend your favorite, undeserving, politicians.

If you can't think of a way Cruz could have helped more, you are either lying or you are unwilling to devote a couple of brain cells to the exercise. I can offer some ideas if you want to continue pretending that you can't possibly think of any potential. Spare us that nonsense if you can, though.

When I replaced my regulator, it is literally a piece that fits between the pipe coming up into my house.... When I turned off the water, drained the faucets and then took out the piece, there was only a few quarts of water (maybe) that drained down (from the top part of the pipe), which would tell me that any pipe that could freeze in the house would be empty enough at that point to allow for the water to freeze and expand.

Fortunately (for many reasons), I don't live in Texas and have ever had to put this theory to the test...

A pretty big one. I had all of my faucets dripping throughout the freeze, and I still at least pipe along an exterior wall that burst. Probably would have been fine, though, if the power would have stayed on (or at least rotated) and I could have kept it above freezing inside the house.

 

We lost power due to a derecho here in Iowa this year. It knocked out power for most of central Iowa and destroyed buildings and knocked down many trees and powerlines. Winds were up to 140 MPH. A inland Hurricane.

Never once did anyone ask or demand the senators do anything. The govenor and power companies took care of the problem.

Senators are usually in DC voting on stuff.

Of course it does not seem that Texas needed influence with the Biden WH since Inheard one Texas local official say that he got a call from the WH before the governor of Texas called about the situation.
