Full title: Texas AG Says Trump Would've 'Lost' State If It Hadn't Blocked Mail-in Ballots Applications Being Sent Out
    Source: https://www.newsweek.com/texas-ag-s...ocked-mail-ballots-applications-being-1597909

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, said former President Donald Trump would have lost in Texas in the 2020 election if his office had not successfully blocked counties from mailing out applications for mail-in ballots to all registered voters.

"If we'd lost Harris County—Trump won by 620,000 votes in Texas. Harris County mail-in ballots that they wanted to send out were 2.5 million, those were all illegal and we were able to stop every one of them," Paxton told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon during the latter's War Room podcast on Friday.

Notably, the Texas attorney general conflated mail-in ballots with applications for mail-in ballots in his remarks to Bannon. Harris County did not attempt to mail actual ballots to registered voters—just applications to request them if the individual voter wanted one.

Ah Republicans, always saying the quiet part out loud. That the AG cannot discern between an application and a ballot indicates we need minimum levels of qualifications for our leaders. The question is why would republicans rather have fewer people vote? Is it that their values are incompatible with America’s values (the values of “We” the people) or is it that they believe they know what is best for other Americans?

With the demographic shifts in Texas alone we could see the state become in play — even with Republican ‘strategy’ as early as 2024. Will the right be forced to denounce the extreme part of the party that has taken over or will they just double down?

Why are all REPUBLICAN state legislatures in favor of limiting citizens from voting. 100 % in favor of making access to GUNS AND AMMO which result in thousands dying and being severely wounded every year, but dead set against free and equal access to the voting booth for our citizens.

You all understand this better than I do. Can you explain to me why what Trump did with DeJoy (removing mailboxes, canceling overtime, stopping machines, etc.) isn't considered election interference?

    They aren’t.

Utah has automatic mailed ballots, early and no excuse absentee voting, photo ID not required to vote, same day voter registration, online registration... The difference, Utah is highly religious, mostly caucasian and bright red politically.

They are only doing this in areas they are scared of losing.
Anyone saying this is to protect the integrity of elections is either a fool or a liar — likely both.

Yup. And ask them why states that Trump won haven't done a single audit to prove his victory.

It was.... State Sponsored election interference, but it was done under the BS guise of "saving money" at the USPS, so it got to slide...

Also, they started the interference well before the election, so it wasn't 100% directly tied....

Then I laugh at the wingers on here going ballistic when Pennsylvania made emergency measures to try and mitigate some of what the USPS was doing...

    But you are 100% correct...

I still think NC tips before Texas, but they'll both go eventually... very clear that youth + minorities + VERY aging white people + T**** = A dying entity...

The right denounces NOTHING (except Dr. Seuss and Coke and NFL players that kneel..... ya know... the important stuff)

I've posed that question on other threads. The ridiculous answer I received was that Trump has limited funds so only chose to challenge states where he lost. Besides the pure insanity of saying a billionaire has "limited funds" none of them seem to notice that he has no trouble begging for donations but won't put his own money where his mouth is. He can't believe in the fight too much if he can't shell out something toward that mission without double-dipping into people's bank accounts unauthorized.

It's always projection with them. Last I checked he raised over 200 million to fight voter fraud. Shouldn't that money go to states he win also to maintain integrity?

But no, it's only about staying in power. Like how they said mass mail in voting would lead to fraud, except in Florida because Trump needs retirees to vote for him.

Do you recall when Trump and Hillary debated and she mentioned how little he paid in taxes? He shot back with "that makes me smart" or something flippant like that. To him, cheating, lying, tying people up in court for years, etc. is just WHO he really is. He doesn't care who he stomps as long as he's on top.

And, it baffles me that anybody would be okay with that. I mean, if a man doesn't have integrity in his own business ventures, do they honestly thing he would develop it with our tax money? They want to brag about him donating his POTUS salary ($400K/year). Yes, he did, while forcing his SS detail to stay in his hotels on his golf outings to the tune of several million dollars. I would prefer that he took the salary and didn't bilk us repeatedly playing golf that "I won't have time to golf if elected".

I think if you uttered the word "integrity" around him, he might spontaneously combust.

Well now, that's something the Democrats and the real Republicans had better take note of for 2022 and beyond. Hammer these disenfranchising Trump enablers for their admitted voter suppression!

I always cringe when people mention donating his salary. I think all of us would donate 400k to get tens of millions of dollars for life in return.

Why shouldn’t every registered voter receive a ballot? Why shouldn’t it be easy to drop off ballots in a huge county like Harris? We have the technology to verify every ballot by using thumbprints and to make sure that every ballot drop box is secure. Everywhere I have ever voted only took 5-10 minutes. Why should anyone have to wait for hours to vote? Now, I receive a mail in ballot every time there is an election. So do most of my neighbors who are mostly Trumpers. The only reason that the GOP is passing these voter restriction laws is so that THEY can cheat every time like they have been doing for decades.

But we don’t use that type of verification. In fact anytime we try to institute ANYTHING that would require someone to actually prove they are who they say they are when they vote gets called racist by the dems.

And yet he’s the only president to ever do so. As far as I’m aware.

Not many presidents were rich like Trump where they owned golf courses and could charge the SS and have the money flow into their own back account. It must be good to be part of the social elite.

False. No Democrats complain about Utah's voting system, which is secure and by mail. Republicans always win.

The argument is ridiculous. No evidence, no believable plot line, failure after failure after failure. But...but...but...

    Utah. No buts.

No matter how many times you repeat the big lie, it remains a lie.

Even if it was true, why are states where Republicans are not at risk not fixing their election system?

My best guess is they are going to come up with a whole other set of rules based on all the liberties Trump took while in office (ie. nepotism, overcharging for security detail, using the WH as a campaign center, etc.).
