The reports coming in now say that the bomber was killed by police. Let's hope this is true and the bombing campaign is over.

Best news I've read so far today, and kudos to the police. Mad dogs should be killed, not brought to book.

24 year old white male. Blew himself up when cornered. Is what the current info is on the news.

News in Austin sure, what about the coverage of it on the national news like the school shootings or Trump vs Stormy?

I have noticed that I have been getting news on this story from UK based media sometimes hours before it has been reported on US national media. No doubt Austin is reporting newsflashes

It weirdly disappoints me that this guy was so dumb. All these sophisticated bombs and you're just going to walk into a post office with cameras?

And he used his mobile phone which was tracked to the hotel he was staying in! It's sadly funny that he took off his gloves when he handed over the packages.

Makes me wonder how the police didn't catch him sooner. All they had to do was access the Cloud(which we know exists) and probe every phone call in the Texas area. They could've caught this guy in a 48-72 hour surveillance after the first bombing. Of course, I will grant them that they knew little but it's not like the situation didn't call for that kind of mass surveillance.

I mean, we know from the leaks when Obama was spying on Merkel that they do this crap all the time. Why not now?

This is what they did do:
Late on Tuesday, the Austin police department used footage from a FedEx store on Brodie Lane in south Austin to identify the suspect.

After using the Google search engine to gather information on the suspect's online browsing history, which showed searches on facilities which were used to ship packages, authorities later managed to locate his vehicle.

In the early hours of Wednesday, police and federal officers then took up positions around a parking area belonging to a hotel in Round Rock.

As they waited for tactical teams to arrive, the vehicle started to drive away, forcing officers to pursue it.

When the vehicle eventually pulled over, armed officers approached, but the suspect then detonated a bomb, injuring one officer and causing another to open fire.

Actually talking about the one over a month ago, that had more than just the shooter dead.

Eh, I understand the sentiment but I can't agree. Due process is a cornerstone of our society. Even cowardly murderers like him need to be put through the system. Not for his sake but for everyone elses. We shouldn't start creating a list of circumstances in which its OK to just kill a suspect based on what he was supposed to have done. If its unavoidable, fine. But every effort should be taken to capture him if possible.

Trip wire incident begs to differ(If in fact caused by him.) We unfortunately will never know, since the cowardly terrorist did what other terrorists do when facing justice: Blowing themselves up. This should be called lone wolf terrorism, but it won't be. That's not something you can use for political capital.
