If you want to look there is plenty of countries each with thier own abortion laws - you can do a comparative or read the research where such a comparative has been done
I am not joking - the so called “pro lifers” on this forum did log onto that thread and blame the victim One in particular was so, marginal, with the discussion in relation to the eleven year old that frankly I would fear for young women in his family
Yep! Believe the whispered untruths believe the faked videos Believe the denigrations of women (They just want abortions so they can fit into bathing suits) Believe the lies.......................
Indeed but those rubes are too short sighted to see they are simply being pandered to. It's the same with reparations or immigration reform. You don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg
I don’t understand why this doesn’t have more support from the right on the board. If life begins at conception (their argument) and termination of a pregnancy is murder (their argument) then a woman that aborts a pregnancy should be tried as a murderer, right? It’s almost like they don’t consider a bundle of non-viable cells to have the same rights as a living breathing human. Interesting that...
Mate I know more about abortion than you would believe - a claim I can be VERY sure of since there appears to be a degree of cognitive and world view bias occuring Now tell me, are you in favour of the death penalty for abortions?
OKAY Which abortions?? (Am betting it will be late term and that they are unaware late term abortions are almost invariably for foetal abnormality incompatible with life)
What is a bundle of non-viable human cells? A bundle of Non-viable cells are there for just the first couple of days - then you have an embryo which gets a heart beat around 6 weeks. At the age of 10 weeks the embryo is considered a fetus - meaning it formed all organs it needs and can theoretically survive outside of the womb (never done in practice). The earliest premature birth with surviving baby is at 21 weeks. My uncles wife had a complication during her pregnancy and had to deliver at 23 weeks - the baby survived. Now, is it a good idea to abort fetuses past 20 weeks? I think if we can let the baby live outside of the womb, maybe that’s where we should go? Instead of aborting at 21+ weeks why not give birth or do a c-section? Giving birth to a 1lb baby is a heck of a lot easier than giving birth to a 7 lb baby. Also, with 10 weeks being the mark of when all major organs are formed, it is possible that in the future we could care for fetuses that just barely over 10 weeks old. I know all of this because I watched two pregnancies and now have 2 kids. I used to be a vocal supporter of women’s choice and right for abortion, but I have since rethought my stance. While I still support the right for abortion from legal perspective, considering it a necessary evil, I do believe aborting a fetus past 21 weeks that doesn’t have any critical defects is beyond immoral and borderline murder. Why abort a fetus that can survive on the outside? While woman should have the right to say what happens to her body, she should have no right to willingly chose to kill the fetus if there is a real chance of that fetus surviving premature birth. Woman should have the right to control her body, nobody disputes that. But maybe she shouldn’t have the right to kill premature baby just because she doesn’t want to carry the guilt of leaving the baby behind? Why not convert abortions past 21 weeks into c-sections? Anyway, just my $0.02.
Why wait for an abortion?? Well there is access and there are issues like the 11 year old in Argentina and then there is the fact that they have just been told the baby has no brain Does every woman wait until after 20 weeks - no of course they do not So how many abortions are “late term” and of those how many were for maternal distress or foetal abnormality?
As I said - when there is a major defect or threat to woman’s life then the abortion past 21 weeks is absolutely justified. Having a mid-term abortion (21 weeks is not late term) on a perfectly healthy fetus is immoral and no self-respecting doctor should conduct it. That’s my stance - if a baby can survive outside with the help of technology then there is no logical reason for killing it.
Texas lege can often stupid, like this time. Abortion Rate In U.S. Falls To Lowest Level Since Roe v. What is RVW? Abortions past 20 weeks on healthy fetuses still happen in some states. Not a lot, just a few, still even that is too much.
Woah, I was about to jump down this articles throat and talk about Right Wing authoritarianism. Until I read the post and found out it was just a scare tactic from a Progressive trying to make people afraid of voting Republican. Won't happen, the Republican Party has moved pretty far to the left from those days and from what I can see even this was a fringe thing to the party, even back then. Hysterical Post from OP noted.
. RvW Roe Versus Wade - blame spellcheck And what evidence do you have that those abortions post viability are for anyrhing other than foetal abnormality??
Maybe the woman could just be required to gestate a baby for an infertile couple. Send the message that an abortion will not allow you to escape from carrying a pregnancy.
