I don't remember Texas ever having any ballot drop boxes, so Abbott's rule is one per county more than normal.

I don't see what is wrong with this policy. Extend it through election day. One polling place / ballot box per county, for every county in the state. Make it the same for everyone, whether they vote on election day or drop their ballots off in advance.

People can drop off absentee ballots in person at any polling place. Looking at Texas' largest city (Houston) map of polling places, there are over 200 polling locations during early voting, and almost 800 locations on election day.

...or they can drop the ballot in a mailbox.

Voting isn't rocket science, even at the end of a viral spike.

I hate it when people come in the middle and don't read the post your responding to.

This election year, TX is not a sure thing for Trump. He will probably carry it, but it will be much closer than usual.

I agree. It's like political Stockholm Syndrome :hiding:

I think we should implement a new rule: People who are too stupid or scared to figure out how to vote aren't allowed to vote. If someone can't figure out where/how to vote, they're probably too stupid to be voting anyhow, and if someone is too scared to vote, they're not very rational and probably shouldn't be voting either.

    Problem solved! :D

Here you go :D I think the pic is Israel, but I'm sure you could dress up the same way to vote here :roflol:

Thus, I am not voting 3rd Party as I have done for the last 3 elections. :)

So why not apply the same rules throughout the process?
    1 location for everyone.
As you say, it isn’t rocket science.

That's why they have quotes. :)
For once my grammar was correct. You are not the only person to do it.

There are approx. 8 million people in Houston. One location (as in polling places or one mailbox) would be restrictive.

There is a rule that if a person doesn't directly quote another person, then no one else is allowed to reply to the first person. Hmmm. This person didn't see that rule written anywhere by any person. LOL

So? If it is ok to limit it to one place before the election, why not on election day.

It isn't rocket science. If you want to make sure your vote gets counted, get there early on election day.

Well clearly acting like an adult isn't an option.

And that's not what I said.

How are you not scared to death to get in your car and drive....anywhere?....ever? Are you afraid of the flu every year? Even if you think covid is more dangerous to you, the flu, every single year, is still a danger to you as well. Do you self quarantine yearly between november and march? Would you dare go to a hospital where 250,000 per year die from medical mistakes? You must exercise like crazy given the risk of heart disease right?

Actually, don't answer any of those as I know the answer to all of them.

You, like most of the left, are using covid for political reasons. Actual facts have no bearing on your opinions or the things you say regarding this.

Early voting in Texas starts on Oct 13 and runs through Oct 30th. There is no limit on "one place" before election day. Absentee ballots can be dropped at any polling location if people don't trust the mail. I'll probably go vote (in person) the week of the 19th when I doubt the lines will be long at all.

Because it is easier to have a poll watcher observing one box 24/7, whereas it would be easier for Democrats to place a box conveniently located close to each of the ballot harvesters' homes.

Bottom line: Fewer boxes are more secure to the benefit and peace of mind of the voting public.

Many people don’t have jobs that make time for them to go and vote in person. For those people they may have to choose between voting and doing without a basic need. This is voter suppression, and the GOP knows it. The right does better when fewer people vote.

And for those who say that you can just florid your ballot in the mail, I wouldn’t trust that one once with what the right has done to the post office. I’ve been waiting for three months to get a car title from Arizona. Only way they’ll send it is by USPS. If that’s too difficult for the post office right now I’m not trusting them with my ballot.

This is really bad optics and a bad move in my humble opinion. Granted, people can still drop their ballots off but limiting places to drop off your ballot is just stupid. Should have let it alone as this creates nasty fodder to the left.
