Interesting. Did you know that accidental gun deaths can be prevented with very little training? Unfortunately, the increased burden gun laws place on the poor makes it unlikely they can afford to practice marksmanship and safety. Those that oppose gun rights also shield their children from guns so when they do find one, accidents are more likely.

A neighbor of mine never allowed her 2 boys to have toy guns, watch any programming with gun, or even mention the G word in the house. When they came over to play with my kids, they saw toy guns and rushed to grab them, aim them at each others faces and pull the triggers. "Bang bang Youre dead"

So.........more guns.......more exposure to guns..........less burdensome laws.........less accidental shooting deaths. Can you hear yourself?

Yes, gun laws disproportionately affect low income citizens who are more likely to be victims of violence, but less likely to afford the barriers politicians place between them and their rights. Those that don't own a car have no way to legally transport the firearm to the range.

Firearm accidents are the result of ignorance and can easily be prevented. Rule 1. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun. I realize you have little to no experience with firearms so I would advise taking a course in safety before buying one.

Whatever. None of that changes the math of no guns, no deaths by guns.

Of course I understand it's not going to happen in America, with it's gun lobby, gun lovers, etc.

But, the math is incontrovertible. I say we should head and that direction, and change the mass consciousness on the subject, just as mass consciousness shifted on talking about sex in the late 50s early 60s. People can change, though it happens gradually.

While it may be fun to discuss "no guns" as if you could waive a magic wand and they would all disappear, reality is that the war on guns will end up like the war on drugs.

Sadly, gun laws only affect those who respect the law while criminals enjoy an unfair advantage. You even admitted that guns are brought in from out of the area. If guns were the source, murder would follow the guns, not the other way around.

Referring to those who respect the second amendment as "Gun lovers" is nothing more than a rebleat of the anti-gun narrative seeking to demonize gun owners. The gun lobby is outspent by a huge margin to create people willing to attack my rights. I support the second amendment because I love my family.

With all due respect, it seems some people would vote for Joe Stalin himself if he hated Latinos and bought a good stock market.

The gun lobby and 2a types are driven by gun lovers, they have lots of them, love to talk about them, read Guns and Ammo, are into them.

    Are you denying this?

If a criminal had to import guns from foreign countries, the number of gun crimes would be reduced drastically.

the more hurdles placed between people and guns, the fewer gun deaths. it's simple math, really.

Like i said, if guns were not available in the US, there would be very few deaths by guns.

Not, it's not practical now, nor would it happen any time soon, but it's a good direction to head in, because someday, we would get there. as generations and attitudes change, and attitudes do change, over time, and on guns, I believe they do need to change.

The rights you perceive them to have.

    https://www.thetrace.org/2017/06/19-children-shot-america-every-day-cdc-study/

You'll never guess who was behind the Dickey Amendment.

    https://www.thetrace.org/2016/04/cdc-gun-violence-research-dickey-amendment/

The gun org who pretends to care about care about the safe ownership of guns but stymies research on gun ownership.

I have no doubt your thoughts and prayers are with the families of those kids who get accidently shot each day.

I also have lots of motorcycles, enjoy talking with other riders, and read about the latest racing technology. Those on the other side tend to sexualize or romanticize firearms, that is not an accurate description of gun owners. The gun lobby is outspent by a huge margin by anti gun groups that mislead the public into voting for laws that only benefit criminals. You even admitted that criminals go out of state to buy guns while you are claiming that more guns = more gun crime. If that were true, gun crime would be higher in those areas and lower in the more restricted areas.

I am glad you are using simple math because it demonstrates the structure of the anti gun position. Disarming criminals is extremely difficult and dangerous. There is no way to know which criminals have access to firearms, so basic human psychology is to take the path of least resistance and go after law abiding citizens. We are the ones registering, modifying, or forfeiting when laws pass.

How many criminals registered their "assault weapons" or turned in their standard capacity magazines? The hurdles you speak of don't have an effect on bad guys and only serves them with easy victims. Gun laws hurt the poor the most.

    Say what?

For years, the National Rifle Association has been the uncontested heavyweight champion when it comes to spending on the gun debate.

During the 2016 election cycle, the gun rights group and its smaller affiliates spent $54 million supporting or opposing candidates. In contrast, gun control groups spent $3 million.

Two years later, gun control groups including Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords, the organization run by and named for shooting survivor former Rep. Gabby Giffords; outspent the NRA and other pro-gun groups during the 2018 midterm elections.

The gap in spending between gun control and gun rights groups has closed dramatically over the last four years, according to Karl Evers-Hillstrom, who researches money in politics at the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit watchdog group. “Gun rights groups had an edge for so long, especially on federal spending. To see gun control groups actually come close to them and actually surpass them like they did in the 2018 midterms is unprecedented,” he said.

    https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/...ps-are-closing-the-spending-gap-with-the-nra/

Bloomberg's recent spending on gun control advocacy has made a big difference. So has fund raising in the wake of mass shooting atrocities. But the NRA had been misinforming people for years before that........and still is.

This is a common, but misleading claim by anti-gun groups. The truth is that there is no shortage of research on gun violence. Data is compiled by law enforcement, FBI and is there for all who want it.

Creating people who believe gun control works is expensive. I am not a fan of the NRA since they endorsed Trump. They should be a single issue group focused on protecting our rights.

The sad part is that people in all parties oppose violence, but fight each other instead of those who harm others. I realize that it is a complex issue with no easy answers, but attacking the rights of good people only helps criminals.

Who hates Latinos? I keep hearing this and I voted for Trump and I don't get it. Latinos are cool I see them at school and in the Mexican restaurants and they all seem very nice.

No one is attacking your right to own a firearm. The constitution doesn't grant the right to carry concealed weapons, (Scotus has not asserted that regulating CCW is unconstitutional) Regulating firearm's does not equal 'destroying your right'.

The right to bear arms no longer exists in CA. Open carry is a crime.

CCWs are not issued to ordinary citizens in L.A. In other counties, they are given out on a MAY ISSUE. It can no longer be considered a right if you need to ask permission.

I cannot own many basic firearms due to their appearance. 50 BMG are banned even though one has never been used in a crime. There is a roster that lists what I can own. For every new gun added to the roster, 3 must be removed. (AKA banned) The right to own firearms is in the process of being destroyed.

My second amendment rights have been completely destroyed.

Your right to bear arms has not been destroyed whatsoever. You can own them with restrictions allowed by law where such laws have been held as constitutional.

Your position is a sentiment, not a fact.

When leaving my home with a gun makes me a felon, it is a fact. (Thats the "bear" part) . At least politicians pushing these laws enjoy armed security.

In the Heller decision, Scalia stated that the 'right' is not absolute, and he specifically noted that prohibitions on concealed weapons carrying
has gone as far back as the 19th century.

So, your rights have not been 'destroyed' not by any reasonable interpretation, including by one of the most conservative and 'originalist/textualist' justices in history.

What a load of crap. TDS is never going to end.

    (1) The Impeachments were for absolute garbage. The phone call was fine, unless someone applied their own worst possible interpretation and inferred a whole lot. The 2nd Impeachment had no witnesses, no evidence, and no legal counsel afforded to the President of the United States. That's a first... ever.

    (2) See #1 - You offer the President no Legal Counsel and your whole process is garbage.

    (3) Butthurt over The Wall? As we can see now, with it cancelled it was an Emergency as we witness the worst Humanitarian Disaster for the history of our border. Fail.

    (4) Trump never violated the approval process. If they were not getting approved he kept them as "Acting" for the legal period of time. Just because a completely adversarial set of Democrats refused to approve nominees is what he was left with to run the government. To complain about this with the absolute scumbags, weirdos, and *******s Biden has put forward based on their genetics or mental conditions over their merit is a laugh.

    (5) Every President had the same power as Trump and he didn't abuse it to the volume as most of them. This is just pure TDS.

100% destroyed. While I am grateful to live in a safe part of Los Angeles, many are not so fortunate. The 100 pound female is no match for the 250 pound rapist/murderer and a copy of this article doesn't do much for her.

Gun control is not a position of concern for human life.
