Why would you do that? you don't want to hand over the keys to illegal occupiers of your land...nor do the Jews. Just because the land was occupied by all kinds of international invaders during the last 2,000 year does not mean it changed its real owner, possession of stolen property does not make someone an owner.

Actually correction: given the circumstances the Jews were willing to share what was lawfully theirs, they accepted the partition.

 

Funny you'd say that, because that is exactly what those who call themselves Palestinians did.
They handed over the keys to Jerusalem to a Jordanian (royal) family on the bases that the Jordanians are the custodians of Jerusalem.
