I'm looking for suggestions on how an average citizen of any given nation can keep up with government activity. For instance, the Finance Minister of the province of Ontario, Canada, revealed his plan to cut a $200M+ horse-racing subsidy as a way of curbing the deficit. Great, except, individuals were shocked to learn that this program even existed. It received no attention from any news agency until Mr. Duncan let it slip. If we were all up-to-speed on government activities, this program probably would never existed. The thing is, how do we do that? how can we hold government accountable? Any suggestions?
