Most CCW people know the smart move is to get away from the shooter, especially if their family is present. It's the LWL anti-gun mob who constantly complain those with CC permits are cowboys who'll start blasting as soon as a black man puts on a ski mask. FWIW, there are over 380,000 churches in the US. We could have a mass church shooting every month and the odds it would hit a church anyone here is a member would still be less than 1 in 31,666. People are much more likely to be killed driving to church than sitting in church.
What difference do you see now? I have a few of the single stack handguns, in .380, 9mm and .45. The .380s have been around for quite awhile with the most popular being the Walther PPK (1930s). The only difference these days are alloys that 9mm and .45 cartridges. Same designs, same size.
One is the ammo, Even in 380 it's now much more effective than it ever has been and also has less flash. Now it's designed for smaller weapons. Second is reliability. Thirdly is shootablility, and superior ergonomics, especially with the new striker fired DAO's. That even translates into revolvers like the Ruger LCR. New materials make them lighter and ergonomics are far better. The sights are far better and lasers didn't exist back in the day.
Actually, the Walther PPK is obsolete at this point. A straight blowback .380 is heavier, with higher slide velocity and snappier recoil; to say nothing of an ABYSMAL trigger. Now, you can get guns like the Colt Mustang, Kimber Micro, and Sig 938; all locked-breech, short recoil pistols a third smaller than the Walther, weigh less than half as much, and have a fraction of the felt recoil.
I had a Colt Mustang, it was very accurate, there are better guns now. I don't worry as much about so called "concealability" I can easily conceal a Glock 17 although it is not required in my case.
LOL! It's a handsome gun, I grant you. However, I still have a scar because of that gun. A very nice PPK - not the PPK/S, but a real, blued-steel, German made PPK - came into my local gun shop when I was a young man. Full of excitement at the opportunity to own a "gen-you-wine" James Bond gun. Very first round I fired excised a pound of flesh out of the web of my shooting hand and I took it right back to where I bought it and got my money back!
Yeah, proper attire when carrying enables you to conceal just about anything. I actually have a S&W 469 9mm, which is almost exactly the same size, holds twice as many more powerful cartridges, and has less felt recoil. I love that gun!
When you are a Undercover Detective, pretty is not defined as a PPK..... A customized Colt Lawman MK III .357 Magnum - 2 1/2" barrel is very very pretty.
True, but still a classic like my Confederate Army .44. Bersa updated the PPK with their Thunder 380 series. A nice little handgun, but I still prefer my S&W M&Ps, especially the .45.
Ohhhhh.... yeah. Had one of those at one time, but had to part with it during a difficult financial period in my life. Broke my heart. Such a sweet little shooter....
Growing up in Belfast, my first EDC CC was German WWII PPK, a trophy from a gang fight, that I carried for years. Yes, it could bite, but I had/have small hands, and with the odd exception early on, with a tight grip never had much of an issue with it. I can see how some one with larger hands might. In the US, I acquired a PPK/S which after a few cuts, I removed it's claws and never again had an issue. Both guns pointed naturally for me and I was to shoot very accurately with them, but again, was probably because of my small hands. I also had a Mustangs, liked it as well. Sad when I think of some of the guns I owned, but no longer have, thinking on how little I let them go for, some for obscenely low prices, including a WWI, yes, WWI, trophy Lugar and Webley M1 from my Grand Da. I do agree, however, there are many better modern SD options these days. Still, I love shooting old guns like my 1858 Navy (one of the best pointing guns I have owned, except, perhaps the Browning Challenger I once owned).
I bought one of those from a guy for $50 in the service, fired it a couple of days later, kept jamming on me, I sold it a month later for $165. That's my total experience with a PPK.
I wouldnt be mocking ones political preference nor there dreams given the reality of what happened in las vegas and the political agendas that allowed it to happen.
The political reality.... where law abiding citizens do not have their rights restricted until after they break the law? Yeah. Freedom sucks.
