The banks were bought by other banks. The financial crisis was over.

Obama had the most consecutive months of jobs growth than any other US president.

It’s amusing how detached from reality conservatives are.

Obama had a pathetic economy. That’s reality.

Given the dominance of the Fake Left-Wing Media you are probably right.

And with the dominance of illiberal progressives in education all that will be taught is “blame Bush”.

Oh yeah, blame Bush and a lot worse. Does anybody wonder why our colleges and universities, especially the humanities and social sciences are turning out clueless snowflakes?

Yes. A friend’s niece was a junior economics major at UCLA. He asked her if she knew what the Laffer curve was - crickets.

Of course it’s anecdotal. But why does an economics major know nothing about the Laffer curve.

Most economics majors then understand the Laffer curve ?? How many have you asked ?? Which college economics textbooks discuss the Laffer curve ??

yes, if we completely ignore the fact that he had the worst recession in 80 years, and still managed to get UE from over 10% down to under 5%, double the stock market to record highs, and have the most consecutive months of jobs growth of any other president, then you could say he had a pathetic economy.

    But that's just retarded.

That's 2% growth and the worst recovery since the GD. That's reality.

BTW U6 was much higher than normal and LFPR was at lows not seen since the 70's. U3 is meaningless without considering those other statistics.

And Obama did not double the stock market. Most of that claim is actually recovery of wealth and not the creation of new wealth.

Why were subprime mortgages continued to be granted during the Obama administration ??

I own several economics text books. None discuss the Laffer Curve. You would think that a detailed discussion of the optimum taxation rate on income would be a major subject but no discussion. Bruce Bartlett has written a few books which do this but they are not textbooks. What economics textbooks can you recommend that discuss the Laffer Curve.

Bear in mind that this rise in the DOW was done without Quantitative Easing where Obama had the Federal Reserve pump trillions into the economy. When the Fed does that its pump money goes first to financial institutions and then into the stock market.

And the reverse is now true as the Fed is quietly walking back all that money.

This is worthless. The president has like zero play on the stock market, outside of speculation. It’s like farting in a windstorm. Means nothing.

Would you blame Hoover for Black Thursday? Obama for the downed market he stepped into? Bush for the housing crash?

You may blame them, if you’re an idiot...

The market this past year is based primarily on speculation and confidence. It’s all emotions.. most valuations are way beyond reason. I’m currently invested in etfs and some larger cap stocks. I also like playing with options. But it’s been hella difficult playing this market in the short term. The reason? We left sanity way back at 22 on the Dow. Even that was high.

Point being, emotion is driving this surge. Period. Call that strength all you want, but the current market is NOT backed by the capital it assumes. Good for all involved. I’m proceeding with extreme caution, and would feel a lot better if we had a humbling year, so people can get their head out of their ****es.
