Great, give it a shot. Don't just talk about it.

If Congress was doing its job, Congress would never have let Trump withhold military aid they had approved.

If Congress were to do its job, the Senate would remove Trump from office for inviting foreign interference in our election and bribing a foreign leader as an incentive to get what he wanted. See http://politicalforum.com/index.php...r-not-to-impeach-that-is-the-question.563381/

If Congress was doing its job, they would never allow Trump's personal lawyer dictate foreign policy in Ukraine and Venezuela and cause the removal of a devoted ambassador.

If Congress was doing its job, they never would have allowed Trump to destroy the Iran nuclear agreement. Since doing that our problems with Iran have quadrupled. See today's news.

If Congress was doing its job, they never would have allowed Trump's Middle East policy that favors Israel to the extent that the U.S. has been removed as a broker to be replaced by Russia. The Arab republics no longer trust the U.S. in these talks. That's important. Our allies are dependent upon Mideast oil.

If Congress was doing it job, they would never allow Trump to have a foreign policy in the Middle East, specifically Syria, and Europe that favors Russia.

Trump has been impeached. He faces a trial in the Senate.

See, I knew it. Why didn't you quote the second part of my post? The part where I said I detested her, and her party is responsible for Trump.

Great, now document with links what you said about her.

What you said was opinion based entirely on hot air.

3 reasons the American Revolution was a mistake (click link for details of each)

    (1) Abolition would have come faster without independence
    (2) Independence was bad for Native Americans
    (3) America would have a better system of government if we'd stuck with Britain

    https://www.vox.com/2015/7/2/8884885/american-revolution-mistake

I can think of many more good reasons to have stuck with Britain, but these are three good ones.

It amuses me that you are implying that @Longshot is a Trump fan.

Second it also amuses me that you have the audacity, in the same post, to call out @Longshot by accusing him of personal attacks when he is placing aside your passive-aggressive behavior.

Electors are not selected by government. They are voted on by the voters.

    Not really:

Article II, section 1, clause 2:

"Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector."

The states appoint in some manner (most let the parties select) the electors to represent each candidate. Then the people vote on which electors they want -- nominally which candidate they want. The electoral candidates with the most vote are chosen for the electoral college.

Yes, that is the method by which all the states have chosen to appoint their electors. However, a state could appoint it's electors by random selection, as in jury duty. Or any other method the legislature of the state wishes to enact into law.

That is very true. But the states are really appointing electoral candidates and they have to assure every presidential candidate has a slate of electoral candidates. Then the people, not the state, select the electors they want in the electoral college.

Your moronic posts and highly repetitious posts are proof positive that your statement is false.

On the other hand, occasionally I give Trump's fans the exact response, or lack thereof, that they deserve. For example, in your case, ordinarily I ignore your posts because invariably you say nothing beyond a personal attack.

Except, of course, I quoted your personal attack in my post.
Why do you feel compelled to use personal attacks? You do this several times a day.

In what manner are these electors chosen?

Just how incompetent and stupid is the President chosen by the EC which has excessive representation of the rural areas of our country?

Trump picked a fight with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice John Roberts.

In 2018, Trump called a judge who had ruled against him “an Obama judge.”

Roberts responded, “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges,” Roberts said in a statement. “What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them. That independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”

Trump fired back on Twitter. “Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country.”

Because of his chronic stupidity, Trump caused friction between the two men.

Chief Justice John Roberts will preside over Trump's Senate impeachment trial.

    Trump's worst enemy is Trump.

So you realize that the Electoral College as envisioned by the framers is no longer in place today, right? Today we effectively elect the president directly via a democratic vote, which isn't what they drew up.

In their world, there was no national vote for president and whoever got the most elector votes was president, second most was vice president. So IF the results of the electors in 2016 matched the outcome, Trump would be president and Hillary VP. But it's unlikely an "outsider" like Trump would have made it in the framer's electoral college, by design. Hard to say if Hillary would have either, but her campaign was much more traditional in that it leaned more on political insiderness than Trump's, at least at first.

It was about money. The southern economy was based on slavery and at the time of the Constitution, it was the wealthiest region of the country. However, given the "electorate" of the day, any democratic system would have been weighted in favor of the less prosperous north. That required some scheme that created an edge for "wealth" over "people." A method that could off-set the principle of one person = one vote. That was the three-fifths compromise and the census, which was adopted for the representation in the House. After admitting that the popular election of the President would be the most democratic and preferred method of electing the President, Madison gave way to the hypocrisy of the electoral college and comes very close to admitting it as such, as recorded in his "Notes on the Federal Constitutional Convention."

Yes. Back in the day, I taught American history. I chose to keep it simple.

No, the Electoral College chose the President. If the American people had chosen the President, Clinton would be our President. She won the popular vote by three million.

Trump became our President because of less than 80,000 votes in MI, WI, and PA.

Given the system currently in place, had the Framers decided to elect the President with a direct vote of the people. why do you think Hillary would have won?

How would you replace it? Would you prefer New York and California decide? I can think of no better option than the EC. Popular vote is a terrible idea, unless we are the United PEOPLE of the United States. That won't make us united, though. It will just mean we will be overrun by people who want more nanny state. Nanny states aren't doing very well, so, there's that.

As the United STATES, the states should be casting the votes. The only way to make it better, IMO, is for the states to send votes based on their districts, instead of winner-take-all. This will encourage people to vote in states where they know their vote won't count. It will encourage voting, period. If I know Candidate A is going to win by a very large margin, except in my district, I have zero incentive to vote, now, even if I know my person will win.

Funny how you haven't addressed my question.
    I'll ask again:

Given the system currently in place, had the Framers decided to elect the President with a direct vote of the people, why do you think Hillary would have won?
