No, they haven't really mattered since we invented instant communication. They don't actually run anything, the full employees do that, their only job is to relay information back and forth. That's 1hy is so easy to switch them out.

Biden has to get aproval from Senate on all cabinet picks I believe. It's nice that Republicans control the Senate.

This is all if Trump loses. There is a chance Trump can still win or state legislators could vote etc.

I heard Kamala is offering her husband a job. I'm sure favoritism will be big for Biden and Harris over qualifications. I can't believe Amy Klubochar is being considered after her connection with George Floyd.

Also it's funny that BLM activists are demanding Biden reward them for voting for him as if he will be running the show. Biden and Harris already publicly stated it will be a Harris administration. Democrats and lefties were played by Harris. Biden is just a puppet.

    Technically I don't think that's true.

The cabinet is simply made up of advisory positions. They give the President advice.

The Constitution is not really the most clear on that point, whether the President's cabinet members would constitute "officers".
There might be some specific law concerning this. But it would probably only apply to whether they get a salary from Treasury funds.

All ministers and other important officials of a government have to be approved by the Senate and if the Republican majority in the Senate does not approve it, then it gets "funny".

Ultimately, Biden can, if necessary, assert himself with an executive order ... AND WOE IF ONE OF THE TRUMPONIANS STARTS TO WHINE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT! What has Trump done too often, eh? ;-)

Biden told Chris's Wallace he would wait until the election was certified before claiming victory. He lied. He is already acting like he is president. I'm sure he will say screw Mitch McConnel and do executive orders for his picks. He will be under pressure from the left to pick the people they want or Kamala wants.

Like I said if Biden wins he will be a puppet.

Well, someone needs to act like the president. The orange menace certainly never has.

I hope Jared and Ivanka are available for cabinet positions. Biden is going to need the best and brightest. LOL

I read he is going to have scientists on the Covid task force. What a weird concept. No one ever thought of putting scientists in charge of the virus.

    Sorry ... BUT SO WHAT???

Trump declared Victory at a time when it was not yet clear who wins at least ... but this was OK? Sorry ... when Trump does it at a time where it was impudent to do, because too much states were still counting you say nothing?
And then this dun fire of lies and fake news he spread about counting which is not only proven to be a lie, no he had not find and delivered a single evidence ... reason why he and his law twisters like Guiliano were kicked out by every court until now with their lawsuits about! And you say nothing about this sick behavior of Trump, what is the real voter fraud?

In reverse, Biden announced at a time when the outcome of vote counting was clear and this is exactly the time when every single US President claimed his election victory!

And some dementia about Trump in 2016? When does he start to behave and act like a president before being introduced in January 2017? Was that OK, but not when Biden does now? Really?

Presidents have historically been afforded the choice of their department heads as a matter of course. What a quaint notion nowadays.

You see.....they have different standards for Trump (R) as opposed to the Dems (Biden) They have conveniently forgotten how Trump behaved weh he wqas elected. (and during the transition phase).

And how is it OK for trump to obstruct intelligence info, and other things that Biden is entitled to during the transition phase??

    Double standard?? pathological hipocracy??

One can safely predict that Trump and the R will make the Biden presidency as miserable and ineffective as possible......... because they are just that destructive and obstructive. and do NOT consider the nation first. Abuse of power comes naturally to them.

Is the world seeing the REAL America now....... exposed by the Trump gang for all to see.

Wonder how the like seeing Trump behave like a despot leader who can't let go of power.

Biden sure has his work cut out for him..........and he will have little help from the obstructionists.

This transition of power will not be an example for future transitions....... hopefully,it will just be a horrible anomaly.

The transition isn't required until he is elected president next month. Doing anything now is just doing it early, he can wait.

Not after Trump has spent years getting rid of people whose loyalty was to their country, and not to him. Most of the agencies that keep things running have been decimated, and filled with Trump toadies and sycophants who don't know how to do their jobs.

    So yeah, it matters.

It is, they are just advisory roles, they don't actually do any work.

Most of Trump's current cabinet officials are still in "acting" capacity mostly because he couldn't get them approved by even a GOP-led Senate.

Cue the pearl-clutching outrage from the right when Biden announces his picks, and places them in "acting" status because Trump and those who coddle him are stubbornly uncooperative with this transition.

Please link to quotes that Harris "publicly stated it will be a Harris administration."

As for BLM, what rewards are they demanding? I'd like a link to that as well.

Where else should the donkey be? That's generally how the cart moves forward, with the donkey in front and pulling.

Name any other president-elect in our history who had to wait until December to start building his staff. Name any that were denied the daily security briefings.

Go ahead, look something up (for a change), I'll wait . . .

Nixon was the first to get a full transition, never had it before that.

President used to be denied access to the WH prior to their inauguration.
