yes, the ACLU was against taking a right away from an American without due process

which is what the FBI would of had to do to the shooter to take away his guns before he had committed a crime

it's a complicated issue for sure

I think the only legal options is to ban certain assault rifles, bump stocks, things like that

as of now, gun ownership is like speech and religion, everyone no mater how crazy has the right to own one, it would take a constitutional amendment to change that

although we do violate the civil right of ex-felons, so it can be done if people ignore the constitution and say you have to have the privalage to have a right and that privilege can be revoked

of course if you have to have the privilege to have a right, then is it any longer a right? or is it a privilege?

    Appeals court. Yawn.

    Supreme court:
The Court has held that “the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding,” District of Columbia v.Heller 554 U. S. 570, 582 (2008), and that this “Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the States,”
    https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/15pdf/14-10078_aplc.pdf

Still waiting for someone to explain how the AR15, et al, are not "bearable arms".

But I see it happening here in California. I hear that we are just being paranoid and that no one is trying to take our guns, but look at the new laws here in CA.

Both sides are too busy arguing guns laws. Every time I reach out to discuss how to prevent these senseless killings, the conversation starts with me turning in my guns. I have kids in school. One would think that there is enough common ground to work from.

You would -- but it -does- illustrate the true impetus behind the reaction from the left.

I think the local police with assistance of the FBI could have picked Cruz up for interrogation and perhaps obtained a court order to have him examined by a shrink

Or they could have tried to make a case that hevwas communicating a threat which might hav3 been enough to put him away

The FBI can be pretty creative when they want to

    But instead they did nothing

yep, would be interesting to know if the fbi agent was pro-gun, pro-trump or not, was there a gun ownership bias, maybe a Trump bias as he was wearing a MAGA hat in some online photo's
