The GOP tax bill would be very bad for the economy.

The welfare system in the US is not fit for purpose. Its poverty alleviation impact, compared to the more generous European systems, is pathetic. I don't expect you to acknowledge reality.

as I said there is no poverty in America when you count $70,000 in freebies from liberal govt. Do you understand?

Poverty has been known to be relative since the days of Adam Smith. Anyone suggesting that America doesn't have high poverty is talking guff. If we do fix poverty according to US measures, European countries (except for elements of neo-liberal Britain) all do better.

as I said no poverty here thanks to free food free education free health care free military free infratructure free housing. the poverty that shows up in the numbers is liberal poverty ie poverty without counting the $70,000 a year we give to the poor so they won't be poor. indeed our poor suffer from too much food and welfare rather than from too little.

And you again are inconsistent with any resemblance of economic sense. No economic analysis concludes zero poverty. Your opinion is drivel.

if you think there is no no free food housing education health care welfare here etc why not present evidence? Notice you didn't think of that on your own. What do you learn from that?

I've referred to the obvious: No economic analysis concludes zero poverty. Your opinion is irrelevant, except for the humour element...

I'm not the one that pretends America has zero poverty. No one referring to economics with validity makes such a stupid claim.

You can keep repeating drivel, but we all know (and that includes you) that no one says the US has zero poverty. Where do you get your ridiculous arguments?

Refer me to one economist that says "the US has no poverty'? There isn't one. Rant without evidence in support is not much cop!

how is the existence of say free housing, medical care, EITC, SS a ridiculous argument??? There is great book called "The Poverty of Poverty The Numbers". Liberals have no reason to exist without poverty. That is why we will always have
    poverty.

Poverty alleviation today involves almost no cash transfers at all. Just about everything is done either through the tax system or transfers of goods and services. These are not counted as income when calculating who is above or below the poverty line.

The US, compared to other western nation, has virtually no social housing support. It has also a welfare system based on efficiency, rather than effectiveness, criteria. And of course, compared to most countries, it starts with much greater inequalities.

Anyone that says "the US has no poverty" is not credible. It is a comment that only deserves contemptuous laughter.

we have 20 million in social housing but we don't want to race Europe to the bottom where for example the French live in tiny apartments at about 65% of our standard of living, and would live at about 30% of our standard of living if not for American inventions (70% of recent medical patents) for example. Ever wonder why if you go to France they play American music in the background?

You just illustrated your lack of knowledge of social housing, nothing more. That you think America's pathetic position, in comparison to all other Western nations, is something to crow about is just further evidence of lack of sensible economic comment

OF COURSE THEY AND YOU ARE!! ALL our tax dollars are for the purpose of running the country and paying the bills. It is your patriotic duty to help keep the country running.

There is no science in your approach. Science starts with knowledge.
