The latest and addition to the TFM family, a Marlin 336.

I have long wanted one, and had a lot of trouble justifying buying one. Who would not want one? It represents an era where having a gun was just about necessary to survive. The wild west, the lever action, a basic design well over 100 years old and still going strong.

Couple that with the polymer tipped ammo that has drooped the MOA of this classic to around an inch, and you have something that I personally think no gun collection is complete without.

As for the gun itself, I am amazed that at under $500 this thing is solid and tight feeling. Relatively light, short, it is an impressive bit of manufacturing that can put that together for that price.

3 weeks and I get out to the range in Nevada, and I can not wait!

I have no real use for the Rossi Circuit Judge 410 except pleasure and the simplicity of it being a revolver. I have always had a soft spot for the 410 bore.

The new Taurus Circuit Judge, manufactured exclusively for Rossi, takes the most overwhelmingly successful revolver in recent history and extends its range for incredible hunting and shooting. This shotgun/rifle crossover offers the ability to shoot .410 gauge 3-inch magnum shotshells, .410 2.5-inch shotshells and .45 Colt ammunition with the rifle barreled shotgun, or fire bothÂ…

I do dig on the combo guns. I would love to get one of those .410/.22 rifle combos just for a bug out bag, or to take with me when camping.

As for the 336, deer season is coming up and I have been invited to tag along. It is certainly lighter than my 30.06, so I may have to get a scope and throw it on there.

2 things one the list of toys I want.

S&W 686. A classic. One that no gun safe is complete without.

The next, and a bit more pricey, is the Thompson Shooting School's Weatherby.

A buddy of mine got one, and it is incredible. Yes, it costs $6 a round to shoot. But, incredibly accurate.

The old savage 22/410 combo is something to get your hands on.

Sigh... The only firearm that i own now is a Ruger Mini-14 with foldable stock. Really fun to shoot.

I did own a few 12 and 16 gauge when i lived in the middle of the woods, mostly for protection since i'm more of a fisherman than a hunter.

I like the mini 14. It is a cool little gun, but I have to say that it came down to that or an AR, so I went with the AR.

Now an M1 would be on my list of wants.

The AR are harder to get where i live.
I agree that the M1 would be great. From what i heard, it's a bit hard now to find one that isn't at best in fair condition without having to spend mucho $$$. I'm a bit of a military history fan. I would love to also get a lee enfield and a mauser k98k for the same reason that i would like to have the M1, history...

I saw an unissued WWII era M1 going for nearly $7500 on Gunbroker. I know used ones routinely go for $2000.

They are just cool, a gun that is iconic, to say the least, and the mini 14 is a good homage to it.

So now I am thinking about a scope for the Marlin.

Deer season is coming up, and I know where there are some nice, feeder sized hogs hiding out. Keep in mind that doe snot mean I will find them, but I know the patch of land they are hiding in.

    So I am torn between a 3x9 and a 4x fixed.

4x, should be plenty for shots out to 100 yards. Simpler to use, simpler to sight in, but lacking for anything longer of partially obscured.

3x9. More likely to get knocked out of adjustment, but more accurate and versatile.

Another conundrum that may take some time to solve.
