Getting rid of Columbus day doesn't get rid of Christopher Columbus and anything he did.

You do understand that, right? Changing a commemorative day doesn't change what that day was created to commemorate.

Just like moving some art doesn't get rid of historical military commanders and politicians.

Actually Gen. Patton was known by his men as "Old blood and guts."

    "Our blood, his guts."

Patton continued an established trend then.

True, the traditionally taught history relates to the European discovery of America. However it at least does not deny that indian cultures were already here long before. I see that as along the lines of assuming that those unlike you in appearances, traditions or culture are automatically inferior, less important or meaningful- yet that is still happening today. Everyone wants to measure the rest of the world with themselves as the benchmark.

I remember a line from a movie explaining that the animosity toward the indians in early America resulted from their being on our land before we got here.

That would be more like the Spaniards/Conquistador! You know the bunch that wiped out the Aztec, took their land and finally won the hearts of the leftist under their new name Mexicans :)

Did you know that George S. Patton was related to Chesty Puller ?

    They were cousins.

    Love that line.

Bukowski … I don't recall how many times I was called that at mail call. My name is Berkowitz.

Since there there were no whites in the western hemisphere, Columbus opened up diversity to the region and the left should celebrate it. The left loves diversity you know.

No and probably many of them couldn't spell or define it! This is just another example of the insanity of the left that has hijacked the Democratic party!

Actually if you research the point, Patton's battle deaths were below other Generals.

During the early years during WW ll Patton was a Lt. Gen, an Army Corps commander.

In the later stages in Europe Patton was a four star general and commanded a army.

The European theatre of war wan't the Pacific theatre of war.

    21st Century:
The wars in Afghanistan (2001- we are still there) and the Iraq war (2003-2011) casualty rates were extremely low compared to other wars America has been involved in like the Vietnam War. Both the Afghanistan war and Iraq war were low intensity.

Just about as many soldiers and Marines were killed during the Philippine Insurrection as were killed during the Iraq war.
