recent election results suggest that it had little to no impact at all.

How did it work out for Republicans DURING the Shutdown?

Oh, and did they achieve their goal....was Obamacare defunded? Or did they surrender?

We are talking about issuing green cards. Hey don't fund it, what goes around comes around and such stupidity only shows the true colors of the Cons, sadly Cons often do not know that they are their own worst enemy and even worse when other try and warn them they get mad or ignore the warning.

Of course it has costs, tremendous costs. That appropriation bill can have wording that none of the funds will be used for this illegal action.

They surrendered, but not until they cost the Nation Billions and stuck the government under Sequester Rules. The next time they do so on purpose there should be a necktie party in Washington, there are plenty of lamp polls to go around for decoration.

He's already done that. He's been using " prosecutorial discretion" for years. None of the people we're talking about were in any danger of being deported. However providing SS numbers, work permits, and identity documents and the subsequent processing cost money.

It seems to me that you leftists are your own worst enemy in this particular case, unless you are absolutely sure, there will never be another Republican President. If there isn't, you're good, but if there is, you've created a brand new Presidential power that means that prosecutorial discretion can now be used by the President to suspend enforcement of any law he doesn't like. Imagine, a Republican President suspending enforcement of tax laws for the Koches, as thanks for faithful service, and of course the War Powers Act is just a law after all...

And the President claims the action isn't illegal and funds it.

So we go to court....for....what? Two years?

    - - - Updated - - -

See above....."Defund anything illegal"...and the President claims it's not illegal....to the Courts...and at the LEAST you're looking at a year or more.

Yeah, he claimed it was illegal in 25 speeches and now claims it is legal? Some Constitutional scholar that one is. Either way, it is Obama lying again, one way or the other. Think he read it in the paper or something?

I never said any such thing in fact I voted for the last Republican President, you comment assumes something that is not related to anything I have ever said. Presidents have used their powers to address the same issue in the past, guess what they were Both Republicans:
    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/1f5e041c11294c318d11779be7d22119/reagan-bush-also-acted-alone-shield-immigrants
You seem to believe that President Obama is doing something new, yet two Republicans have used the same power and guess what the world did not come to an end and the Democrats did not scream like stuck pigs that they were abusing their power and threated to shut the government down to force the President to back down.

And since two Republican Presidents have used their same powers Cons are either Lying now or are you saying Ronald Reagan and Bush abused their power? One or the other, which is it?

First, let's clear up a few points:

    OBAMA WILL BREAK NO LAWS

What Obama will do, prosecutorial discretion, is done every day in every D.A.'s office in the country, particularly when it involves low level "crimes" like jaywalking which is about the level of being an illegal immigrant. It's also not uncommon for prosecutors to reduce charges in return for a guilty plea for major crimes. None of those district attorneys are breaking any law nor is Obama.

THE COUNTRY FAVORS A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGALS

The only reason that Republicans sound like howler monkeys on crack right now is to hope you won't notice that the majority of people in this country do favor that citizenship path. And the link even includes a poll from Fox News last year that showed it at 66% in favor.

A SMALL MINORITY VOTED IN 2014

Once again, for all of the loud noise coming from Republicans after the election (and I won't even talk about their gerrymandered districts), the turnout, naturally, was only 36%, meaning that they got slightly over 18% of the votes. Not exactly what I'd call a ringing mandate for massive reform of the entire government, particularly when polls continually do not accept many of their plans. They just hope you won't notice when they, as they are promising right now, continue to screw up the country, only likely worse this time.

Yesterday, I laughed at all your talk about the shutdown that isn't going to happen and I'll laugh at it again today, if I must. Myself and others have said it before and I'll say it again - Boehner and McConnell have made it clear that they're not going to take Emperor Arbitrary Executive Fiat's bait.

    I never said that either.

If you want to address what I've actually posted, feel free to do so. I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about what I actually said. ;)

The country did favor a path to citizenship. But that was before this flood of kids and illegals swarmed in. And now we see they are pulling this crap.

Talon, I'm pretty sure I'VE said over and over a Shutdown won't happen....and I get argued with by your friends on the Right who say it WILL happen and "it'll work this time, the American people will blame Obama not Republicans".

So...no impeachment, no shutdown, and any "funding cut" that is piddly (non-veto worthy, thus no Shutdown) can be ignored by the Administration...

what's left in the GOP's bag of tricks?

    - - - Updated - - -

Which means the "They'll pass a funding bill that says he can't do anything illegal" idea.....won't mean jack-s*** will it?

With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed — and I know that everybody here at Bell is studying hard so you know that we’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law. The executive branch’s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws.

I skimmed some of those articles and did notice that citizenship for those border-jumping kids was not favored at all, but did not in any way diminish the support for people who'd lived here and followed the laws.

After what you and yours have done to the country I'm always surprised that you have no sense of shame. The only one off and running is President Obama who has only two years left to destroy the country. Keep cheering him on.

The only things I've seen Obama do have brought the country back from the abyss that Republicans created and George W. Bush perfected. Nothing more. And all Republicans want to STILL do is drag the country back to that precipice and push.

Tell that to your boy Cruz, you know the one that shut it down the last time and suggest they shut down department after department until they get their way or the government is shutdown. Yes, go ahead claim no Repubs are threatening a shutdown, but you might want to put a muzzle on Hey Look At Me Cruz first.[IMG]

    True their game plan:
    Wash
    Rinse
    Repeat
and in the end expect a different result.
Is it that Cons are really that dumb or after 6 years of whining and obstruction have they simply lost the ability to stop and get back to work?

The President said it was illegal on multiple occasions. But whether it is or isn't', that has nothing to do with the Congress's power of the purse.

If' it's legal, I anxiously await the Justice Departments legal opinion on it.

    A couple of things

    A) Trying to sell the mid-terms as some sort of 'mandate' for the Rs is ridiculous considering turn-out was at a 72 year low, so they aren't indicative of what the populace wants, only those who voted

    B) They can't use their power of the purse because Immigration services is funded by Fees

    C) If Boehner had done what he told Obama he would do back in the summer (pass an immigration bill) we wouldn't be here.

    D) Deferral isn't Amnesty.
