Does money buy political outcomes in this country? YES!! This article sums up the findings of reports that have been filed with the Federal Election Commission. The opening paragraph, which I will quote below, provides a good introduction to the subject.

Out of 310 million people in this country, evidently perhaps 600 or 700 of them are determining which candidates make it on television and which ones don't. That sounds...fair. Right?

But we can't have publicly financed elections or equal media time for the various candidates. We can't ensure that the public is enabled to make an informed decision on election day. That would be a free speech violation, so the Supreme Court has ruled.

Well, yeah, it would be. I am hard pressed to think of something that would be more of a violation of free speech than prohibiting someone from purchasing political ads based upon the fact that they're rich or that they buy a lot of them.

Running ads for or against a politician or view is exactly what the First Amendment was written to protect.

Don't like it? You'll need to amend the Constitution.

Let me point out 2 opposing sides.
The Unions for several decades have taken Membership money in the form of dues and supported Democrats without any specific individual mandate.

The church has done the same thing on the ultra conservative side.. Churches have no money..they collect money and then distribute it without a individual mandate.

This money argument is weak...I am supporting a particular view without getting paid right now. many others do the same thing around the country in editorial pages..blogs and other internet places.

The base is wider than we are led to believe..The so called MIDDLE hasn't been able to build ..if anything...there is no one perfect ideal other than to be against someone that drives them most effectively.
