The north Vietnamese conquered South Vietnam after we left ..

The Viet Cong were destroyed at tet 1968.

    That's accurate history..

Never knew of that one! I googled, and you are right, Eadora!!:

"The Philippines Genocide is the genocide history forgot. You will find in history books the Filipino-American War of 1899-1902, but they fail to mention the genocide carried out by the United States of America on the people of the Philippines."

    https://britsinthephilippines.top/philippines-genocide-3-million-filipinos-killed/amp/
    ------
That crime happened more than a hundred years ago. About 3 million Philipinos were killed.
Since WWII they have killed another 20 million or more in different countries. I guess, only the Bolsheviks can top that...
Jewish Bolsheviks Murdered 66 Million In Russia -

It is sheer amazing I am still alive! I must give myself a hug !

You're right that many Vietnam veterans are still living the glory days of killing innocent citizens. Some wish they had been involved in My Lai, and some of the old USAF pilots are proud that they defoliated the countryside with Agent Orange, and prefer not to think about how many of their "brothers in arms" were made sick or killed by those chemicals.

I was fortunate that I never had to kill anybody because I was in the medical end of it, picking up wounded in the Mekong Delta.

What we did in Vietnam were war crimes, just as what we did in Iraq and Afghanistan and so many other places on the globe were war crimes.

Dear Eleuthera, I don't think the Veterans are now feeling proud of what they had to do back then in Vietnam. Haven't we already mentioned here the problem of so many veteran suicides? It clearly shows how hard it is to deal with their burdened conscience AND their physical and psychological injuries/illnesses.

I, the little sister of three soldiers, wish I could embrace and comfort them all. Only forgiveness, kindness and love can help them. But so often, they have no family to rely on, or are disappointed and draw away from their families. Loneliness, hopelessness and depression overwhelm their fragile souls and they break apart.

Since Vietnam, the next Generation has already been brainwashed about another "enemy" threatening their fatherland, and off they go again to kill and devastate another country and its inhabitants. It's a never ending chain... destroy and rebuild; raise more children, then have them killed.

What for do we have diplomats and embassies? Let's use them to talk, calm down, soothe and negotiate with the other side instead of lying and agitating.

Here is an appropriate song someone recently sent me, I love listening to it...

You may have "reached that point," but a lot of people in the world are glad the U.S. stands in the way of China and Russia.

With every justification, we got rid of the Afghan regime that supported 9-11. We started the 2003 war in Iraq. Our bad. We didn't invade Vietnam. The French were already there.
People around the world would rather we have influence instead of Russia or China. Do you understand why?

That was the goal before LBJ escalated in 1965. What was our goal in 1965?
We negotiated our withdrawal. South Vietnam was doomed by the Paris Peace Accords. Is it any surprise the agreement was the first item in Nixon's Second Term?

We didn't need to fight the Vietnam War. The dominoes haven't fallen, have they?
We might have considered if it was possible to have a stable nation state, and what those circumstances might be. Can Afghans have a stable nation state on their own without the Taliban? I don't think so. What's our strategy if we can't reach an agreement with the Taliban?

The U.S. became a very efficient empire after its debacle in Vietnam. Today, it has just 200,000 armed forces stationed outside the country. That's it.
What are you saying? Do you want the U.S. to stand down? China and Russia, but especially China, are prepared to fill the void. Is that what you want?

That is ridiculous. The only reason either of them have any role to play is because of the fact that US hegemonic policies may drive some to use them to counterbalance the Americans. Otherwise, two nations who still don't know what they stand for, what role they want to play in the world, neither without any message or ideology to attract anyone, and both ultimately quite content to just go the course and prosper in the (US$$) dominated global economic and political system, have no ability much less pretension to fill any supposed void.

Good post. The Paris Peace Accords were the U.S. negotiated withdrawal. Nothing was stolen. We chose to get out.

The old canard they're only reacting to the U.S. when they bully their neighbors.
Seems like a rather naïve view of what these guys are about.
