Well, at least your honest. Iran, in your view, is free to disregard all its obligations under the NPT treaty. Maybe now we can stop with the nonsense that they are complying with their obligations. The problem is, that if your buddy, Iran is free to disregard their obligations, there really is no justification for expecting any of the signatories to the agreement to comply with its terms.

Until Liberal minority set up the bunkum he wanted to knock down, Id never heard such bunkum. Usually when hostilities in the mid east are concerned, we usually need to insist they stay out of it.

Lets help Iran build its own arsenal, equal to the Israeli arsenal. Then lets use our CIA, in the fashion they are so accustomed , to get both Israel and Iran in a war with each other, where both of them nuke themselves. (and wipe out the Palestinians too).

Middleeast problem solved using classical Roman Republic strategy.

Sure they can be used in an offensive manner. They are a weapon. They can be used in any manner the owner decides to use them in.

As far as countries like Iran not being allowed to have the weapon.......is simply because they have proven themselves to be irresponsible.

A good analogy would be a credit report. Their human rights record, state sponsored terrorism, and medieval fundamentalism has ruined their credit report.

    Nuclear bomb acquisition denied...........

Sooner or later a Muslim power in or near the Middle East will have nuclear weapons capable of hitting Israel and it wouldn't take more than 2 or 3 medium-sized nukes to effectively destroy Israel. That time may be delayed for a while or it may not, but Israel needs to have a doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction publicly in place when that time comes.

A few years ago Israel all but crucified some poor shmuck who let out the "secret" that Israel had at least a hundred nuclear devices. I don't see why Israel is still trying to keep this quiet when everybody and their brother knows they have at least some nukes - the barn door is basically open at this point. Now Israel needs good medium or even long-range missles capable of hitting Iran (for instance), so that when Iran announces they have the bomb Israel can announce that they have enough bombs to totally eradicate Iran if necessary.

There are five NPT authorized nuclear weapons states and it is their responsibility to ensure that no nation uses nuclear weapons, including each other. Israel does not require nuclear weapons if France, Russia, China, Britain and the United States stand ready to annihilate any nation that attacks Israel with a nuclear weapon. Iran doesn't need nuclear weapons if Israel is disarmed. India and Pakistan don't need nuclear weapons if the both are disarmed. None of these nations needs nuclear weapons if their total annihilation is assured should they ever use one and if the assured annihilation of any nation that attacks them with a nuclear weapons is also assured.

It is the responsibility of all NPT nations to disarm any rogue nuclear weapon nation and in the case of N Korea the necessary steps are being taken. Those same steps need to be taken with the other rogue nuclear weapons nations. Severe economic sanctions must be imposed on all nations that have nuclear weapons that are not authorized to have them under the NPT. And all nations, regardless of politics, must be protected against a nuclear attack.

And Russia and China side with Iran and the United States and Britian side with Israel (France becomes neutral LOL) and we have an all-out nuclear war and all of mankind (including the French) is destroyed. Nice strategy.

Pakistan already has that power. As far as the doctrine, it is already in place. If Israel is ever to be threatened with demise.....it will have the final parting shot from it's submarine and air nuclear capable assets....much as we in the U.S. have.

I don't believe Israel will allow Iran to make the announcement.

Israel didn't sign the NPT therefore they aren't required to abide by it. They are a sovereign nation free to make their own rules.

Iran on the other hand did sign the NPT.

Sovereignty relates to the internal affairs of a nation. Sovereignty does not provide any right for any nation to attack other nations or people.

Some would like to make that claim but in reality Israel is the nation most likely to initiate a nuclear war. Israel presents a greater threat of nuclear war than even N Korea and the UN and NPT treaty members are negligent in their responsibilities to address the nuclear threat that Israel presents to the world.

    Please.

Israel is a responsible, civilized, highly developed Western nation.

Iran is a backwards, barbaric and regressive culture based on medieval ideals and more than willing to trade iranian lives for Israeli ones no matter what the consequences.

Why can't people remember that the Israelis are the good guys in all of this?

I certianly hope this is a facetious statement considering that the "zionist" controlled Israeli government has systematically violated the Rights of the non-Jewish population of Palestine since it's inception.

Israel lives in an environment of aggressive and fanatical people and has the rights to any answer that he does not even do.
If your house the window throw stones, and in return receive a bullet - it is not a violation of his rights.

    A couple things here:

Which nation would you consider a bigger threat to global peace....a nuclear armed Israel or a nuclear armed Iran? This of course with the understanding that some day Iran might very well become fully nuke armed.

Secondly: Setting all of your hate for jews aside for the moment, with the understanding that I myself chide zionism on a regular basis...do you really think that an Israeli state being threatened by Iran and she retaliates by nuking Iran would evoke any kind of nuke response from any of the other big boy nuke nations? I see the other nations having a sigh of relief that someone had the hutzpa (is that a word?) to take that rogue nation out.

The question is, "Why won't it happen?"

How can we ignore the threat presented by Israel when it is unquestionably the most likely nation to start a nuclear war? That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

The problem is that, for the most part, Israel isn't in "it's house" but has broken into the house of others. At best Israel can claim the territory that was defined by UNGA Resolution 181 as that was the "foundation" for the Israeli Declaration of Independence. In 1949 Israel, in it's armestice agreement with Jordan, accepted that none of the lands occupied in the Arab-Israeli War belonged to Israel. The civilian occupation of the West Bank, Golan Heights and Jerusalem by Israel all violated the Geneva Conventions which prohibit an occupying nation from moving it's civilian population into occupied territories.

This is the fundamental problem today. Israel is the burgler breaking into someone else's house.

Both would certainly present a serious threat but based upon history Israel would present a greater threat. Israel has attacked far more foreign countries than Iran and is a very militant nation with respect to other nations.

If Iran were to acquire a nuclear weapon capability I don't see it using those nuclear weapons against Israel short of an Israeli attack on Iran. Iranians, even the radicals that control their government, aren't that stupid. Nor would the Iranians provide nuclear weapons to any other political entity in the Middle East. I can see Iran seeking to obtain nuclear weapons as a deterant against an Israeli attack on Iran but not as an offensive weapon.

Based upon history I would have to conclude that Israel presents a greater threat than Iran and it certainly represents a greater threat today because Israel has nuclear weapons and Iran does not.

I don't know were some come up with the idea that I hate Jews originates but that has never been the case. I'm certainly critical of Israeli actions that violate the inalienable Rights of others. I'm equally critical of the actions of the United States and Iran where the Rights of the People are violated.

Russia has already warned nations that an attack on Iran would lead to "unpredictable consequences" so yes I would consider that a war between Israel and Iran would present a very serious problem.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...warns-against-Israeli-air-strike-on-Iran.html

If Israel were to use a nuclear weapon against Iran then there is unquestionably a real possibility that Russia might retalliate against Israel. I have no idea if they would or wouldn't but the possibility is very real.

Ahhhh, so when you say Israel is the "most likely nation to start a nuclear war" what you meant was that Israel was the most likely nation to provoke Iran into starting a nuclear war.

The threat of nuclear retalliation by Iran would certainly exist which is true with any nation that has nuclear weapons. I seriously doubt Iran would respond with nuclear weapons related to a conventional attack by Israel but could almost guarentee it if Israel were to attack with nuclear weapons.

Once again I believe its the responsibility of the 5 NPT authorized nuclear weapons nations to ensure that no nation launches a nuclear first strike. The only way this can be assured is if nuclear retalliation resulting in the complete annihilation of any nation launching a nuclear first stike is guarenteed by the five authorized nuclear weapons nations. The "big five" must take all actions necessary to disarm all rogue nuclear weapons nations as well as preventative measures to address any nation's intent to produce nuclear weapons. Of course a rogue nuclear weapons nation is a much greater threat than a potential nuclear weapons nation and the actions taken must be proportionate to the threat.

That is the point of this thread.

You mean any country other than Iran, who you defend against charges of building nuclear weapons.
