The current default setting (at least on the left side of politics) is that it's acceptable for The Oppressed to demonstrate the same tactics used by their most recent Oppressors. In practice .... brown people can be racist, but whites can't. This is seen as a means of addressing an imbalance. I get that.

The problem arises when you extrapolate. At what point is balance restored? Who declares that point reached? And how can that point be useful when it can't be fixed (only a state of absolute authoritarianism can fix socio-cultural points ... and only via force). Left to the organics of constant flux, that point will come and go in an instant, and the Oppressed become the Oppressors - in the blink of an eye. So the cycle repeats, endlessly.

The only way in which the cycle can be broken, is for ALL of us to put these now petty concerns about social equality (which reached it's zenith late last century, and has never been better before or since) aside. We will remain in this stupid cycle of tit for tat as long as we give permission for one side or the other to act out.

Why aren't we asking for progress? Why aren't PROGRESSIVES interested in forward momentum and evolution beyond such primitive warfare?

White guilt white people have to be the most ignorant fools to ever exist. NO other culture, race or ethnicity is ashamed of their successes and conquests. None. There is nothing the USA has done that other empires large and small have not. Nothing.

Ever hear of the largest, longest running and most murderous empire -n earth's history that murdered nearly 300 million people - the equal in population percentage to 2+ billion now, the Empire of Islam, ever apologize? The Greeks apologize? The Romans? Any African culture? The Chinese? Asian Indians? ALL but the USA and European people brag of their country's past power and successes in the never ending world competition for power and wealth.

It is truly bizarre to see white liberals throw ashes of guilt on themselves because for a while the USA was better at it than other countries trying to do what all countries and empires did and were doing. The white-guilt viewpoint is truly ignorant, naive, and indicating a spoiled brat syndrome believing they should have everything for free and ungrateful for everything they have. The reason the USA is still wealthy and powerful, though that declining, is because for over a century the USA was a kick-ass country of kick-ass Americans, most of all white Americans. But denial of reality seems particularly popular in liberal circles and self-lamenting and raging whining seems culturally contagious in suicidal ways.

It's not true guilt anyway. Not by any means. It's merely (as someone posted on PF recently) inoculation against social ostracism. It's guilt about not having guilt, in other words.

It's all just the most sickening vanity. And very much anti-progress.
